We have several different fence checkers in different vehicles. This one was a top pick and it works great. It’s easy to use and read.

I have used electric net fencing in temporary or semi-permanent settings for many years. Because I usually lose my fence testers or destroy them my burying them in mud or leaving them out in the rain, most of the time I now test my fences by briefly touching them with my fingers. Occasionally one of my goats will oblige me by touching it with their nose or lips and giving a loud yelp first.I decided to try a formal tester again and try not to kill it. This one works fine, but costs almost five times as much as the simple probe-in-ground-hang-on-fence kind. Because I use different chargers (solar and plug-in) on different length fences, I have no idea what level of charge I need. If I get a number reading, it's working, and that's fine by me. I usually end up still touching my fences by accident, so I confirm that they give a sufficient zap to keep my goats away from them. I also don't understand why you don't need a ground probe with this tester, but I don't need to for it to work. One advantage this has over more basic testers is that the numbers are easy to read in any light conditions. The kind with lights can be hard to read in bright daylight. If you want to spend five times as much money to do the same job, I recommend this tester.

It is nice to be able to test if my electric fence is working without having to zap myself. Glad to have it.
