I have to say taht the metallic finish looks stylish and modern. The sensor lid works perfectly, opening smoothly and making disposal effortless. Great quality and very convenient!

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)Let me start by saying, never in my life did I think I’d write a review for a trash can, yet here we are. And not just any trash can, mind you, but the EKO Mirage-T, the trash can that sounds like it’s trying out for a spy movie.First off, this thing is sleek! The brushed stainless steel finish gives off a vibe that says, "Yes, I hold garbage, but I do it with style." If this trash can wore clothes, it’d definitely have a tailored suit. No more ugly plastic bins ruining the kitchen aesthetic—this thing blends into my modern kitchen like it belongs in an art gallery. The touchless sensor is straight-up magic. You walk by, wave your hand, and—voila—the lid lifts like it’s inviting you to toss in your leftovers with a dramatic flair. .However, like James Bonds gadgets, it comes with its quirks. Sometimes it’s a bit too eager to open. Just walking by it can trigger the lid to pop up, as if it’s expecting you to feed it constantly. It’s like having an overly friendly dog that jumps up to greet you every time you pass through the kitchen. I’ve learned to dodge it like I’m in a game of kitchen hopscotch. The capacity is perfect for a couple days worth of trash without constantly having to change bags. It’s a generous 50 liters, and I’ve noticed it holds its own when it comes to odors, too. No funky smells leaking out, which is a huge win.Overall, it’s almost too fancy for my trashy lifestyle (pun intended). While the motion sensor can be a bit overenthusiastic at times, it’s nothing a strategic placement won’t fix. If you’re ready to elevate your garbage game and feel like a kitchen ninja every time you toss something, this trash can is worth the investment.Just be prepared to have conversations with friends that start with, “So...let me tell you about my trash can...”Would I recommend? Absolutely. But maybe add a little room for surprises in your budget—it might open doors you didn’t even know you wanted opened!

The height is just under countertop. Capacity is just right for a kitchen or large food-related social area. The lid is made of light plastic but has a great appearance. It’s not an issue unless someone sits something heavy on top of it which wouldn’t be wise for any trash can. The lid opens fully with good control and does not hit the wall. The can has somewhat of a narrow opening but nothing any size disposable plates or likewise can’t handle. It has a non-skid bottom. The slightly smaller bags made for a traditional size can just fit this trash can. I’ll buy the correct size bags, which can be found anywhere, once our supply of the old size dwindle down. Removing a full bag and adding a new bag couldn’t be easier. The rectangle plastic ring holding the top of the bag in place could be a little stronger but it sits in the can framed and fully supported. The manual option button to hold the lid open an extended time (15 mins I think) and then manually close it work great. I looked at many trash cans. Many cans take the larger batteries or six+ AA. I have no reason to keep large batteries on hand. I still do not look forward to repeatedly throwing away large or so many small batteries at once. I found minimal options for an ideal size electric trash can. This can uses 4-AA batteries. The finish/appearance is great. There’s no option for odor control but bags come pre-deodorized or scented these days and I change the bag when there’s an odor. What a concept. We couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I will buy another if or when we need it!

I never thought I would buy a self opening & this pricey of a garbage can. I can’t believe how much I love this piece. I’m getting back surgery in January & due to the nerve damage down the legs & in feet have been having trouble using the step functions on a regular can. I was constantly tripping so actually bought this for more of a safety issue for me. I also need surgery on my elbow for nerve damage in my hand (so much fun getting old lol) and with this I can use both hands to hold any garbage & no longer dropping items around the old can. Having said that, now that I have this can I would buy it even if I wasn’t having these issues. It’s beautiful & holds so much more garbage than my old round one. This model comes with 12 of the EKO white garbage bags but as others have stated the Costco ones fit perfectly. I haven’t used the deodorant compartment yet, I’ll have to see how much odor the garbage gives off since this one holds so much more than our old one. I’ve only had it a few days so will update if there are any issues. It is pricey but it’s worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you EKO for this quality product.Update February 2025: Still working perfectly. Because this trash can holds so much more garbage than my old round one I did find more odor about 3/4 full but only noticed when I opened the can. Closed it does seem to hold the odor in. I decided to try the odor control pads which definitely help so I don’t have to change the garbage bag until it’s full. You don’t really need them but I do like them as I’m sensitive to smells. I am also using the EKO trash bags provided as I wanted to see how they performed and they are a strong bag. There is no stretch to them (as with the Costco bags) but they fit like a glove and have yet to get a rip in any of them. Once I’m out of my costco bags I will be buying the EKO trash bags as they are stronger than the costco ones. When taking the garbage bag out there is no ‘suction’ as what would happen with my old round can and I would struggle pulling the bag out. These bags come out very easily which doesn’t seem like a big deal to some but with my back issues not having to struggle with getting the bag out is a big plus for me. Quality product all the way around. Very, very satisfied with these purchases and highly recommend.

So far so good! So hard to find a big trash can worth the price that isn't junk that makes you want to just go heck to old school plastic. Came in fast and all in one peice no dents unlike others said wich can honestly happen with anything and you can just return exchange try agian usualy shippings fualt anyway, works like charm just like in others videos. So quiet compared to my old one this one is shockingly quiet. Love the count down no longer cuaght off guard trying to scrape plates into trash before getting your hand smashed haha unlike my old ones diff type would catch ur hand in it every time. Love the stay open feature. Absolutely hated having to have 2 small trash cans in the house with this only need1 . Why they don't make more big ones like this dono we got tired of the footpeddle ones breaking nothing lasting a year. Wish though that bug trash cans would make those plasitc black inserts you could pull out with the trash take out and spray and clean of somthing exploded n leaked could clean the inside without having to get wet the entetire things and moving parts but so far only seeing that very rare option on smaller ones and rare. Hope they read this and Make it where you can buy those separate if you choose cuz I'll take a lil loss for room to clean without harming vital parts to rust. Some complain of its thin metal but I think they could be little more detailed in this explanation; there's a small medium n large thickness. I've seen plenty small as in one finger can push it in to dent. I wouldn't say this is the thickest whereudhave to realy get bad kick it to dent it, I'd say medium. So mayb agree if you got big dogs i can see them hurting it but by then you may want to stay away from anything but thick Comercial plastic if that's the issue n it's they can learn real eady to opem it get in it anyway foot pedles would be better for dog issues. Now as far as seeing many day it never lasts past 2 years, well my footpeddle ones were the same if you can find one or the other lasting longer let me kno lol. The price is worth becuase we first got a foot pedle target one only 15 gallon vs this 21 n it was more expensive then this one and cheaper made feeling we took it back it was thin metal out said good foot pedle said best there is type it was not any better then others really. So for price I think this is good well let you know how long it lasts. Even came with a set of free bags plent to not just a tiny amount to try sell their bags but plenty. Even the hubby who hated all our old hands free version even my parents 3 hands free, was die hard peddle can type cuz less to go wrong, now he's seeing they just don't make even those like they used to the target one that was more expensive then this way smaller even was no better then the 50$made ones for the footpeddle. So you have won the hubby over and that's hard once he's stuck on somthing he gets stuck and convinceing him to give it anther go few did not wanna return yet anoyher. His words was this is so nice really cool I like it perfect loll
