If you want electric, don't hesitate. I've never used a gas pole saw, but this thing cuts way faster than I thought it would. We've used the crap out of it and only drawback is the chain loosens every 2-5 cuts. It does adjust quickly though.

I have no use for noisy, smoky or messy chain saw work. The EGO PS 1000 is none of those things and I really appreciate that. This little dandy also extends far enough to reach those places that would otherwise require climbing to get to for access. This is a dangerous and difficult answer to a limb and trim problem. EGO PS 1000 reaches without the danger. So glad I made the chaing.

This pole saw has been very useful in the short time I've had it. I've been using it for smaller cuts so far (3-5 inches thick) and it handles it with ease.

The shoulder strap is a must to use. I rest the battery end in my leg which make it easy for me toHandle. I use the 5.0 amp battery not the 2.5 amp.I have other Ego tools also. The trimmer cuts well and does the job. When I add the 3 foot extension it’s a challenge due to its length. I am 78 years old so a younger stronger man will work this with ease.I can only cut up to 17 feet with the extension. Some of my trees are high so I need a professional to cut the tops. I do however recommend this tool. It works very well.On my high bushes and smaller trees. Use the recommended oil> Check the oil level often. It does use oil due the heat of the chain.

The saw is easy to use, not heavy, and with the extension can reach as far as I want to go. The cutting head is effective, and makes trimming branches an easy job. Battery power is sufficient, and much easier to use and safer than an extension cord.

Works well but not flawless as described in other reviews. Purchased with caveats on performance known. Always appreciative of access to thorough reviews before buying a product.

Absolutely works great, Before I purchased pole saw I paid $600 to have some trees limbed in on my property ego pole saw great investment has paid for itself on first use.

This pole saw works great! It's easy to assemble, light and cuts through oak like there's no tomorrow. I've used a standard tree saw for years to trim the easy to reach tree branches. Then call an expensive arborist to get to the more precarious branches. With this saw, I can get to those hard to reach branches that hang over my roof, rest the blade on the branch and the saw does the rest. I figure the EGO PS1000 more than paid for itself the first time I used it.

I wasn't initially planning on buying this but I was having a hard time finding a company to come by and trim a few trees on my property, and those that did give me an estimate were very high priced, so I bit the bullet and purchased this product, I have an Ego mower, trimmer and blower plus a couple of batteries so I just needed the tool and not the battery and charger. Over the past few weeks I've been trimming my own trees with this, and it has worked amazing, the chain tensioner does loosen slightly over time but I just re-tension it after a doing a dozen or so cuts, no problem with the bar oil reservoir lid popping off either (as in some reviews) I would totally recommend this to anyone. I have saved at least $2000 DIYing my own tree trimming.

Original Review: (Updates below)So I own many of the ego tools and I have for many years, and when I saw this got released I bought it immediately because I've had my eye on the other pole saw that they have for sale for a while now but I was really hoping for a dedicated pole saw.I read the other review since there was only one review on the product and they mentioned that the chain gets loose and that the oil cap comes off, I pulled the trigger on it anyways hoping that their unit was just defective and this was not a widespread issue.I got the saw shortly after I ordered it, and I was immediately impressed overall with it, I took it out to test it and it rips right through limbs faster than any other pole saw I've ever used, as well balanced and the carbon fiber shaft is very nice, I like the fact that it extends for when you need that extra reach, but that it shrinks down for the majority of the trimming.Unfortunately, the chain does loosen up a little bit, I haven't had a huge issue with it so far, but it has gotten looser progressively and the only way to really tighten it is to unscrew the tensioner all the way and then screw it all the way back down. The oil cap is the big issue though, it doesn't feel like there's very much positive engagement when you go to twist it down, and there's no threads it just does like a quarter turn and clicks but not very affirmatively, two times now in a span of less than 30 limbs which only take a couple seconds each to cut the oil cap popped off, one time without even bumping it at all it just popped off all by itself and the saw does not vibrate very much like doubt that was the issue, it seems like the taper for it to engage in is too aggressive and it causes it to almost spring back open, this causes all the oil to dump out the side of the saw and make a mess, I'll be contacting ego tomorrow, I will update the review with the resolution that I get.Update 1: (6/8/2023):I have contacted Ego 3 times over the past 15 days and each time I have been given a different story and timeline. I was promised a "superior" would reach out to me within 48 hours via phone call to discuss the issues the first time I called in (at this point that was 15 days ago). I then called in a week later and explained I had received no call or email and the representative stated that the issue was "in the queue" and would be handled as soon as possible but that it would not take another week to be handled. I called in another week later (15 days at this point with no response) and was put on hold for over 30 minutes while the representative "checked with the superiors" (who ironically have time to tell the representative that they don't have time to talk to me), the representative got back to me after the lengthy hold and explained the the "superiors" are busy dealing with tickets in the order they receive them and will contact me back soon, but could not provide an estimated call back time but that it would probably be before another 15 days.I have been an ego customer for as long as they have existed, I have owned almost every tool they have come out with and only one issue has ever arisen outside of this one. It was 3 years ago and when I called in the customer service was excellent and prompt and you got to speak to somebody who was from the USA and spoke English as their first language. Clearly over the past 3 years ego has gotten too big for their own good and the customer service has gone down the tank. You get bounced around from person to person in overseas call centers which creates lengthy hold times and general frustration. This is just another terrible example of a company that after Covid really let their customer service slip.

Ego products are quality but pricey. Not a light tool especially with my 4 ah battery and the chain does loosen quite quickly. Overall a good product and suits my needs.
