I bought this as a best in class seed spreader, but dispaointed that the plastic clip broke on first use. It seems like aDesign improvement is needed. The crank mechanism is not as user friendly as Inwould expect.

This unit has no exposed metal parts other than the handle, unlike earlier models. Metal parts were very susceptible to corrosion when used with lime, fertilizer or salt. This a great spreader, especially over rough or uneven terrain.

This was a replacement for the one I had for probably 15 years of a lot of use and neglect. I think the control of how much feeds out is better than the original on this one and won't corrode as it's all plastic.

Handled large and small seed with ease for our food plots. Very happy with how well this performed. Zero issues with operation and not once did it lock up while using.

I've only got to use it once so far but it seems well built and it works great. Can adjust it for whatever size seed and it simply works. Easy to assemble and looks well built. Great seeder for the money.

Husband uses this to apply fertilizer to the grass in yard. Has also been used to apply grass seed. As long as you don’t get it wet and keep it from rusting, should last a long time. This was our second one to purchase in about 6 years

This is a high quality seeder. I have used it to seed many wildlife plots. I have used it for seeding pollinator plots for up to 2 acres of wild flowers. I have also seeded small brassica and clover seeds including kale and turnips which are very small. The adjustable setting allows for minimal over seeding. It can also handle large grain seed and fertilizer. I have personally used it with winter rye and oat seeds. The bag is large enough that if I were to fill it any fuller it would be uncomfortable. I feel like I can put 25-30 pounds of seed or fertilizer in the bag which is plenty of extra weight to walk with. On that note I wish the shoulder strap was a little wider so it did not dig into my shoulder when I really load up the bag.

I was happy with this spreader in terms of build quality and performance. There are some good videos on you tube that show you the best way to use it. The only thing I would say is that I would have a 500 sq metre lawn and this took less than 10 minutes to cover the whole area. If you have a more normal size lawn a cheaper smaller handheld spreader would be more than enough. When cranking the handle at a readonable rate the spread is easily over 4 metres so I ended up winding very slowly in the tighter areas and thinking I could have used a smaller spreader.

This is without a doubt the absolute worst purchase that I have ever made on Amazon. I bought this based upon a Youtube review, and my opinion of the reviewer has become totally negative. If I could give this product a minus star rating, I would still not be satisfied. First, the bag is held onto the base with a big tie wrap and mine happened to come snapped off and too short. To use it at all, I had to resort to a tie wire fix that I'm sure will fail. The strap is entirely too short for use by an average sized man and too narrow to support the 25 pound advertised capacity. When full the apparatus is top heavy and will flip over if just held by the strap. The feed switch is extremely light weight and I believe that it will break with repeated use. The entire product is made of extremely thin, light weight plastic and I was afraid that it would snap in half when I picked it up. Earthway has lost a customer forever and I will recommend to anyone that I can that they never waste their money on an Earthway product.

I ran about 20lbs of seed through it right away and I have no complaints. There are plastic components that could break if you mistreat it but if you take care of it I bet it will last a long time. I like that it stores easy and I can store left over seed in it.

I really like how this device allows the user to control the direction and throw distance of the seed or fertilizer being spread. I had just watered some new sod in my yard when I ordered this item. Due to my sloped yard and fact that the sod was very squishy from watering it, there was no way I could walk on the sod pushing a spreader or tow a spreader behind my lawn tractor. My sod installation guy told me about this bag spreader that allowed me to walk around the perimeter of the yard to spread lime and fertilizer without damaging the new sod. Assembly was a bit tricky. A third hand would have helped. Filling the hopper bag from a large, heavy bag of lime or fertilizer without spilling was also a bit of a challenge. I accomplished this by laying the bag of fertilizer on my truck tailgate and setting the bag spreader on top of a stool that was a foot or so lower than the tailgate. This gave me more control while filling the hopper. It’s important to follow the instructions about not overfilling the hopper bag. Filling it more than 60-80% full will likely result in some spillage and the bag strap gets very heavy around one’s neck. I found that the crank on the spreader was not easy to rotate in a consistent manner when the bag was more full. It took some practice. I had quite a bit of lime and fertilizer to spread with this device and it gave me quite a workout on my 1/2 acre sloped yard. But, it solved the dilemma of how to spread this stuff without walking on my new sod. Using it on a smaller, flat yard would probably work pretty well.
