Over the last few months I was able to upgrade the garage with a new BOSH router and router table. Next I’m looking to get a slab flattening router slide. Having a dust collection cover that can connect to dust extraction or shop vac is very important. Using routers makes a ton of sawdust (as any one who uses one knows). I would not even consider wanting to flatten a slab without a proper dust extraction system.Although I have not put it to use yet, the kit looks great, and it seems very well built. I’m looking forward to integrating this with a good sled in the near future. For the price, and build quality I would say this is vary well built and a good value.

Made of thick plate steel and thick acrylic so doesn't look like it'll break easily. I'm thinking about making some sort of mortising jig with spare 80/20 I have lying around, so this should help with the dust collection.

I know this will sound a little weird but I think this thing is built too well. It is advertised for the exact flattener I have and while this product itself works great the problem lies in its interaction with the product it goes on. This thing is beefy and made entirely of metal. Even the dust collection connector is solid metal. Normally that would be great but the rails this rides on are aluminum and in stock configuration have a certain amount of deflection to them. I've been looking to shore them up but once you put this on there it just amplifies the problem. All that said it is well made and goes together in less that 5 minutes. It does address some shortcomings with the stock plates; most importantly the lack of dust collection and here you get plenty of that. If your flattener doesn't suffer from the deflection mine does then I'd say this would be great for you but keep that detail in mind.

This is super well built and heavy duty of thick aluminum. Just used for a very quick job but it substantially reduced dust and particles going everywhere. The brushes clear the slab as you go so you don't have to keep stopping to assess progress.

I ordered this product to add dust & chip removal to a plywood router sled used for slab flattening. The upgrade required new aluminum rails and plywood end brackets, no problem there. The new design also required a collet extension to get the flattening blade down to the surface of a thinner slab, also no problem.Once the whole thing was assembled, it worked well. Connected to a shop vac with a long, flexible hose, it collects nearly all the chips when the brushes on all four sides touch the slab surface. When the brushes extend over the slab edge, it still collects 80% of the chips or more. The construction is heavy duty. Both the steel and the plexiglass are thicker than expected, so they will hold up under heavy use. The mass adds momentum to the sliding motion, which is a good thing.I only tested this with flattening (spoilboard) router bits on slabs, which tends to produce larger shavings and chips rather than fine sawdust. If you are carving MDF or some other task that produces smaller airborne dust, your results may vary.Four stars because you will undoubtedly need to do a bit of engineering to add it to your mill/sled/jig. Anyone who flattens slabs should be able to do that easily. I wanted to use the two red knobs to lock the router into one spot on the rails, so that I could slide the entire sled lengthwise, but that requires slotted rails and my rails are flat.Happy customer

I’m using it for an epoxy river table. I tried using it with a Bosch plunge router but could not get the bit close enough to the slab so I had to use the non plunge base. To get the bit close enough to the slab you have to really squish the brushes against the slab. It would be nice to see a little more adjustment in the tool and more directions.

I have not yet set this up, but this product is well built. Thick sheet steel and the vacuum attachment is also made from steel, not plastic as expected. The only manufacturing defect was that burrs were not cleaned from the plexiglass holes for the router bit and vacuum attachment. This will be fixed with a bit of sandpaper. The manufacturer included attachments to mount to their rail guide. I plan on making my own rail guide. Still not decided on angle iron or super strut. All in all, seems like a solid produt. We'll see how well it works.

Slab flattening creates a ton of chips / dust. It was obvious the minute I used my flattening bit. Once you learn the hard way, you'll value a dust collection solution. It's the rectangular platform, with thick acrylic to screw in the dust chute on one end (chute to attach your hose included), the router base on the other end.Thick steel, I'd call it plate rather than sheet. Much thicker acrylic than on any of my other router baseplates. I don't know why this particular item has to be so strong, but it is. It's great just as the router carrier/sled on the rails (rails not included, that's part of the router sled not this item) and I may use it for other tasks with the router sled, not just flattening. The name brand that costs multiples of the price could hardly be better.
