I wanted the extra battery capacity but I think the unexpected advantage was how good and solid it made the camera feel in my hand. The extra points of contact to hold your camera will massively improve stability and hence quality of shots. If I had to make any criticism is that this version is missing the wheel and focus assist buttons on the other Canon Battery grips - but It was probably my fault for getting lured in by the good price that I didnt notice those features were missing.

Quality product for the price point, works well on my Canon 77d. I like that it has a place to store the original battery door so its available should I want to not use the battery grip. The out the back battery swap allowing for battery swap with the camera powered on is very convenient, the fit is tight so releasing the batteries just so to extract them is necessary.

Short answer, It works just as it should. I love having two batteries, but even more I like the extra size the grip adds. The way I shoot it allows for a more steady hold on the camera.I had purchased a Vello grip from an NYC store as it was the only one they sold. I charged up the batteries, installed it and presto. I get a message about counterfeit batteries(they weren't) and the camera shuts off. So I sent it back and bought the least expensive one I could find. I had the idea that if this one didn't work, I would engineer it so that I would it least have the grip to give me the comfort when I shoot.Imagine my pleasant surprise when it actually worked with the batteries. NICE. I have an older Canon body with a Canon grip and the tray for the batteries. I actually like that this one has the door and the batteries insert without an extra part to manage. It's not as heavy duty as a Canon grip, but it does the job nicely. If any of this changes, I will update.

I really like this grip! I love the ability to use two batteries and change one without having to cut the camera off. Only complaint I have is the cord to use the shutter button on the grip. It doesn't really get in the way but sometimes I forget to plug it in. Other than that it fits my Canon 77D perfectly. I really like this grip.

I will give the product itself 5/5 stars - but the shipping would probably rate at about 2/5 stars. The item itself is great. The battery attachment actually has the same grip material on it as the camera, and the plastic construction isn't SUPER cheap, but is still very durable and doesn't feel awful. You've still got a strap slot on the bottom right, along with another trip-pod screw-hole.To insert the grip into the battery slot, the battery cover should very easily be popped right out. If you have to force it, you will break it or are doing it wrong. The remote function works as shown - just plug in the plug into the remote outlet on the camera and turn the switch on the pack to "On", and it will function. The shipping is the #1 problem. It comes from China, so it takes weeks. The box, as seen in the photos, was badly damaged, but never punctured or opened. They had wrapped it in a black plastic covering with a bunch of masking tape which was removed before the photo was taken. Luckily, the product itself was not damaged and works as advertised, and it actually came a week before the time it was estimated to arrive. Unfortunately, tracking it was not an option, as they either did not scan it into the system, or it just simply wasn't traceable for whatever reason or another. So, very poor notes for shipping. Now obviously, this is not a professional level product, but it does what it is supposed to do - which is allow for extra battery life, better camera grip, and an extra remote shutter on the grip. The other plus to this, versus other similar camera grips, is you can open the battery bay and change out one battery or the other, without disturbing the camera's function or causing it to turn off. As long as one battery stays in, the camera will stay on.

An economical way to double the battery life of my 77D. I would guess the people have battery issues are not using OEM Canon batteries. As long as I put an OEM battery in first - everything works just fine. It is plastic, but the grip quality is pretty comparable to the camera itself. Quite happy with it.

This works, for the most part. But there's no battery tray like many are used to, you load them through a trap-door at the back of the grip and there's so much friction on them, it's next to impossible to remove the batteries without a tool. I commend them for re-designing something new, a new way of loading batteries while reducing the amount of parts, but this was not a great integration.

I was a little skeptical at first. I had purchased the Neewer brand with a slide out drawer and it was really not well constructed. It wasn't Canon so I had to forgive them for the lower quality build. I sent back the Neewer brand back. I thought I would try something different this time. I never heard of the DSTE brand and to tell you the truth, with all the Chinese writing on the outside of the box, I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I wrong! My first impression was how heavy it felt. It was not this thin plastic construction like the Neewer brand. It fit my camera like a glove. The fit and finish matched the quality of my Canon 77D. My only complaint is now my third party batteries I have been using are causing errors. My new Canon 77D camera said, "You are using counterfeit batteries" and proceeded to shut down. I thought that was odd so I called up Canon and said, "These batteries worked before I got the grip". Now that I am using two of them, it is causing an error. They said that is a safety warning built in all of their new cameras. I was able to override this error by inserting the Canon battery in first. This allowed me to use two third party batteries. Problem solved! One of the best advantages to this battery grip is the two individual bays. When the batteries get low, you can take one out without shutting off the camera. That is important when shooting video. You can change the batteries without interruption. This is my first grip with individual bays. I will never go back to the slide out drawer again. This is so much better. If you have this mounted in a cage, the batteries are much easier to access from the back. I had to remove the camera before just to slide out the tray. This particular grip did not have many reviews so I went by other reviews of other grips manufactured under this brand. So far all of them were good. As far as this one goes, it did not disappoint me. Very happy with it.
