Unit is decently built, and fits the camera with no issues. There are no other buttons other than the shutter button so if you back button focus you will need to reconfigure your setup to half press shutter focus for portraits. Cable plugin and on/off toggle are slightly annoying, but at $67CAD you cant go wrong, especially since there are no first party grips from canon for the r8/rp.

There was a message error when installing, it said battery might not work properly, it is so dificult to take off, (you need to take it off any time you want to switch cards), it is also hard to remove batteries.

Nothing wrong with holder BUT the battery grip must be put on the camera without batteries. once every thing is complete the put the batteries in.Failure to do this results in the holder questioning the batteries as to their origin Canon-vs-generics, generic batteries will not work unless done in sequence/I couldn't fathom this out until retailer gave me this advice, the retailer was very helpful no problems there

So when it works it works well but we have issues that when we try to turn our camera off it wouldn’t shut off all the way and we have to pull the batteries out to shut it off. Also sometimes it wouldn’t power on we would have to pull the batteries then put them back in to get it to power on.

I bought this so I can do vertical shooting and to add battery life to my camera, firstly the dual battery is great I can shoot comfortable without have to worry about my battery dieing, but the bad thing is I can't shoot vertically because every time I plug the cord into the camera and the battery grip the camera freezes, so I can recommend as a dual battery pack but not for shooting vertically

When plugged in with batteries it asks if batteries are counterfeit. After removing batteries with grip attached it then works great.Fits great in Canon RP. Battery life is great! Worth’s the money compared to the factory version.

Definitely worth it, the rp felt small in my hands compared to my canon 6D (with grip) so this does just great. For anyone wonder what the cord is, it’s to let you use the shutter button since it’s not able to be used without it (Yet?)

I really like the fit of this battery grip. The R series are a little to small in my hands. This bg did add some weight but also gave the additional grip I needed.I had to dock 1 star because I had to return it as the shutter button did not work. Docked another star because there is not dial near the shutter button which should be considered necessary when shooting vertically. In the sellers defense none of these 3rd party battery grips have the dial on the grip.Hopefully Canon will make a grip for the R series cameras with the needed dial.

So far, so good - this grip performs exactly as advertised. It adds an excellent "heft" to my EOS RP and makes it much more pleasant to hold; I felt that the camera by itself was too small compared to some larger lenses I have for it.It holds two batteries, which it claims it draws power from both simultaneously. Excellent. Also, I'm using two aftermarket batteries in this grip and my camera screen **does** show battery life with no problems. The grip comes on and off fairly easily; you have to remove the battery/memory card door from the camera itself and store it in the side of the grip. Kind of odd, but works just fine. Canon lets you remove this door with no tools; simply slide a little latch to the side and it comes right off.You cannot access the memory card without removing the grip; however I haven't found this to be a nuisance for me personally yet. The grip can be attached or removed in Finally, the grip includes a small cable to attach from the grip to the camera's shutter release port on the side. You have to attach this cable in order to use the grip's shutter release button on the bottom right corner (if you want to rotate the camera 90 degrees and use that shutter release instead of the primary one). This is what the grip's "on/off" switch is for; the cable must be attached AND turn on the grip's power. This works just as expected, including half-press to focus, and full-press to shutter release.Overall I'm very satisfied with this grip. It makes the camera look better, feel better to hold and use, extends battery life, and gives the option to rotate 90 degrees and use the extra shutter release. Frankly I'm surprised it works this well for as cheap as it was, and I hope it lasts for a long time. I plan to keep it attached to my EOS RP indefinitely.
