These steps were great for our pool. I mounted them into the deck and they were sturdy!

These pool steps are very flimsy. The descreption states that they are for above-ground pools, which we have. We bolted the steps to the wooden deck that is built around the pool. The handrails bend as you're walking down. My niece fell in the pool as she was holding on to them and walking down. My elderly mother wasn't able to securely hold on to them to get in and out (the whole reason for buying them in the first place) we still had to help her. We waited too long to install them so by the time that I tried to return them, the vendor said NO. I just wasted my money! Don't waste your money.

These pool steps from Champlain Plastics work great in our 9x18x52 Intex Ultra XTR. This is the 2nd season with them and we are very happy with them. They definitely make it a lot easier to get into and out of the pool. My wife has multiple health issues affecting mobility and using the ladder that came with the pool was extremely difficult. We looked at a bunch of other pool steps and decided to give these a try. The pool is set up next to our deck and the steps attach to the deck making for very easy access. Assembly and installing wasn't too difficult but there was a bit of trial and error. So save yourself some time and effort from my experience. The only thing I wasn't keen on was after assembling and putting it in the 1st time it was a bit too bouyant so I pulled it out and found that there are a lot of holes in the steps that are not cleaned out during manufacturing and hold air under the steps. I drilled out all of the holes and installed the step inserts, they are highly recommended. You could use an awl or anything pointy if you don't have a drill/bits to open the holes as the plugged up holes are not very thick but there is a lot of them. Be sure to fill the ballast container with the recommended amount of pea gravel. When you put the stairs into the pool I recommend that you totally submerge and turn them upside down to evacuate any air that is captured under the steps before mounting it to your deck or whatever you are using. I'm almost 70 and it wasn't difficult. Make sure you take into account movement of the pool wall so that the stairs won't make contact with the top of the frame when the pool is being used and because of water loss or overfill/overflow. The stairs do not come with any type of access prevention for under the stairs therefore children would be able to go under the stairs and get trapped. Some PVC pipes attached to the lower side of the stairs would solve the problem for not much cost. We have no little ones so no issue for us plus it allows us to be able to vacuum under the stairs. Once installed they are very stable and don't float up at all. We did put vinyl pads under the stairs to protect the pool floor. When we closed up the pool last year I removed them and stored them in a shed, removed the ballast container for ease of moving around. When assembling you will need to turn them around a few times and it is a bit clumsy for 1 person to move around but doable. I recommend putting something soft down to set it on before starting as the plastic material is not very scratch resistant, scuffs easily. I contacted the manufacturer directly and they referred me to a dealer which was able to get them sent quick. Was happy to see that they are made in the USA and NY State. Yay!I took off 1 star because of the lack of QC with having the air vent holes in the steps not cleaned out before shipping. Minor but annoying.

These stairs arrived promptly and with everything in the box we needed except screws to attach to the cement with. They were easy to put together. We have a slant at the bottom edge of our pool so we needed a set of stairs that wouldn't go against this area. These worked perfect. We'll see how hard they are to remove from the pool when we close it up this weekend. So far I love them.

Great pool stairs. I love that you can vacuum behind them. Good solid one piece that should be easy to keep clean of algea. Deep and wide stairs make for an easy climb and a nice seat. Top step puts a little pressure on the side of the pool and bends slightly when stepped on and handles are a little wobbly. Otherwise a very sturdy set of stairs.

I typically don’t write reviews. I buy soooo much daily online an just don’t have the time yet I spend a lot of time reading reviews so shame on me! Ok seriously these steps are sturdy I’m a 51 an a big girl! Easy to put together directions were straight forward. All parts were there. One Philip’s head screwdriver and a 50 lb bag of pea gravel is all that’s needed. The key to not floating up is following the directions! Flip the steps over just like the pic shows. Then lay the filled plastic ballast on (JUST LIKE THE PIC) then secure with the clamps attach the feet that are meant to pivot. The ballast moves but the steps don’t float up! I have fought algae for years with cake steps and every pool store now doesn’t recommend them or sell them because of algae! So I was in the hunt for the perfect steps. These allow plenty of room for the Vac to go alllll behind it an under it. Kids can swim under it! Big footballs boys 300ish lbs coming in an out of my pool an they said no issue with the steps! The cake steps would give an would sink in these don’t. BUY THEM!

This was a difficult product to review. For what I needed, these steps were a perfect concept. I like the design and I feel like they are mostly sturdy. However, they arrived completely warped and damaged. The box was all but destroyed. Because it arrived in such a huge box (which was now destroyed), I wouldn't even begin to know how to send it back. So I tried to make the steps work as best I could. They function decently, but it's tough to know I paid so much with the steps being warped. Photos attached.

bought this ladder for our pool because we had a new pup that is a waterbaby, and we knew we could not keep him out of the pool when we were in it. with a couple training swims, he now can get himself in and out with ease. Bonus: we find this much easier to use also, better than our previous metal straight ladder. only downside, this was obviously designed for a wood or concrete deck where you can drill holes for the stabilizer arms for a permanent mount. This would not work on our aluminum deck, but a couple sandbags on the arms and we were in business. Now we have a safe entry for our pup, but the ladder can be moved with ease. Better for our knees also, as I especially have creaky knee syndrome. (I made that up, but it's what it feels like)
