More like a plug tap than a bottoming tap. A good 1/8” taper before the first thread. Didn’t want to waste time returning it so I decided to grind down the head. Very brittle, snapped right in half without warning. Even the barely visible stamped and re-laser brand edging looks cheap, typically of what you find in Chinese taps. If you’re looking for a true bottoming tap, look elsewhere.

Worked great! Many places advertise bottoming taps, but many are not. This actually is a bottoming tap, which is what I needed.
