Purchased tap to clean threads of percussion parts made of pot metal. Used the tap with lubricant. Only lasted for approximately 10 thread cleanings. Tap threads became damaged and unable to be used further. Would not recommend, should have lasted longer.

I used this to tap holes in some 304 stainless steel. First 3 holes was fine, and the tap broke on the 4th one LOL. Luckily some of the tap was still sticking out, so I was able to grab it on the vise and extract it.Before you say "user error," the 3.5mm pilot hole was drilled using a mill (not a cheap drill press). A very generous amount of cutting oil was used, and went no more than 1/4 of a turn before before backing off to clear the chips.Bottom line if you're going to use this to tap threads in aluminum, you'll probably be fine. However for thicker steels, I'd choose another tap.
