I burned out my old cheapo Dremel removing grout. It heated up then started smoking. This model is much more powerful. Yet it too gets warm with extended use. I recommend shutting it off if it heats up and leaving it for an hour or two.

As above. It appears that Dremel has chosen to increase their profit margin by abandoning the custom molded, durable black case in favor of an inexpensive storage bag that confers little or no protection. Enough said.

This replaced the one I had that the main component was damaged beyond repair. Ordered it as soon as I knew the other was gone.

I have been using Dremel tools because of their quality and usefulness for over 10 years. This multitool is corded and powerful. It is heavy even without the battery. Use a rubberized glove to improve your grip. The body is a little larger than is comfortable for me. I have a small hand. It may be easier for you to hold if you have a larger hand. This multitool comes with 3 blades, as shown in the photo, and several sanding and polishing triangular disks. I have lots of other blades that should fit this tool.I have used a multitool for 6 hours a day in remodeling a house. I am familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. I like the positioning of the switches. They are easy to access. I may wrap the area where I hold the multitool with gaff tape or duct tape to improve my grip. I will be careful not to cover any air vents that are used for cooling.Based on past experience with Dremel, I expect this to last for a while.

I do a whole lot of home improvement projects. Moving walls, redoing kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms. You name it, I have probably done it. But I am always on a tight budget so I have been using a Harbor Freight oscillating multi tool for years. These little guys are so useful. I finally got sick and tired of the blades vibrating off that I started looking for a higher quality tool. The Harbor Freight tool has very small pins to hold the blade in place and it uses a hex screw to hold the blade on the tiny pins. This led to a high amount of vibration and the blades continually coming off. So finally I did it and ordered this tool from Dremel. Here are my thoughts on this Oscillating Multi Tool:PROS:1) This tool is heavy and has plenty of cooling ports to keep the motor cool. With a tool like this you need to hold it firmly so it is easy to cover up some of the vents with your hand. This tool has six vent ports three in the front and three in the rear so you can hang on and know that the tool will still vent.2) Blade changes are easy and the blade does not loosen up when using the tool. Pic 1 shows the attachment mechanism for the blades. You loosen the clamp by turning the screw counter clockwise and when loosened you press the blue button releasing the blade. Slide the new blade on release the blue button and then tighten the screw back up and you are going. It holds the blade tight and will not loosen with use. A quick no tool needed design. I really like this feature.3) The pins that hold the blade are big and solid (see pic 2). This makes the blade stay tight to the tool and really reduces vibration as you make a cut.4) The tool does not vibrate in the hand as much allowing you to have more control making cuts. I have to assume the less vibration is a result of the blade being held on very solidly with large pins. This makes zero slop in the blade when making a cut. This tool is so much easier to hold and control than my old unit that it is really noticeable. The first use and I started saying to myself, "I should have upgraded this tool years ago!"5) I really like having a carry bag on any tool that has parts with it. So having a bag that will hold the tool along with an assortment of blades is so nice. I grab the included bag and I have everything for the job. Just have to pic the right blade for the task and go. The bag is good quality and it is big enough to put the tool away with a blade attached and room for plenty of additional blades.CONS:1) The only slight con is it does not have a light on it to light your work zone. Not a biggy, but a lot of tools now have the little led light.CONCLUSSION:This tool is very well constructed. Blade changes are easy to do without any additional tools and the blades do not vibrate loose. Besides a great tool it comes with a bag. I am very impressed with this tool.RATING SYSTEM:I review a lot of products because I know reading other peoples reviews are very helpful in selecting the right product. I saw a reviewer that gave a rating scale and I thought, "that is useful". When one is reviewing from underwear to air compressors having a way to tell you why I rate is important. Here is my rating scale:5 Stars: Excellent product, I highly recommend this product for anyone.4 Stars: Good product, but there are some quality, functionality, or design issues, but will still work well.3 Stars: Okay product, it will work for some people but not all people. It works but not great.2 Stars: Is not very functional. It might work in a very specialized situation, but don't count on it.1 Star: Trash. I can't see any useful purpose for the product.

Cuts very well, and takes most normal Makita style bits. The angle it is offset at is very handy, and the motor is stronger than the other units at a cheaper price. Works well and is durable for a jobsite.

This Multi-Max MM50-02 corded oscillating multi-tool kit comes with a Dremel labeled fabric handled bag to store and transport it inside. The motor is powerful as a corded unit should be, but it is also quiet and has a fairly low vibration compared to my previous multi-tool. Changing blades is easy with the tool-less knob. The angled body allows me to get flat cuts without bumping my hand into the floor. I find the tool comfortable to hold and easy to use including the switch placement. It has handled many various blades and tasks I have thrown its way with ease and precision. I am quite happy with this tool's performance and versatility.
