The shovel is sturdy and it’s a good height. The handle is also comfortable to grip. We recently been upgrading a lot of stuff in our garden and need something better to dig around flower beds. This worked perfectly. It made it easier to cut into our clay dirt & cut grass off to have a sharp line.

This HANTOP Spade Shovel is quickly becoming my favorite trenching tool. Let's start with the blade - sharp and impressive. It digs deep thanks to the overall height of the shovel, making it easy to reach the depths I need for various projects.Driving the blade into the ground is a breeze. The integrated step at the top of the spade gives you a good platform to put your weight behind it, and the closed-loop handle allows you to easily pull it back up once you've reached your desired depth.Speaking of that blade, it sliced through half-inch roots like butter. And when I inevitably hit a stubborn rock (my yard is practically a rock garden!), sharpening the blade was a simple task.The 6-inch width was almost perfect for the concrete curb I was installing under my fence, but it'll definitely be my go-to shovel next time I lay down irrigation lines. Here's the thing, though: while the construction is mostly metal, there are some plastic bits used to round out the edges. These plastic sections worry me. Over time, they'll likely become brittle and snap, especially if left out in the sun. Including some UV protection on these plastic components would've been a smart move.All in all, this is a 4-star shovel. It's got a sharp blade, digs deep, and is easy to use. It's perfect for various trenching jobs, from edging to irrigation. Just keep an eye on those plastic bits – a little sun protection would go a long way in terms of long-term durability.
