Product Description

►Geometry Compass for School Start

  • This kit is perfect for the student starting in school and who needs all the basic supplies, and wants that extra edge that can only be gotten with real quality tools. Great also for the student that started the year with the typical cheap plastic set and saw it all break in the first week! Let’s face it, this set just is BETTER.

►Perfect for Math Work

  • Whether you are taking advanced geometry classes or just need to make the occasional pie chart, having the ability to create accurate drawings with precision instruments is a must for the serious student. Whether bisecting angles or constructing geometric figures, you really want tools you can rely on.

►Geometry as an Art Form

  • When making art with a compass, you want a tool that you can depend on. The Ferocious Viking Geometry Compass Set is just what you need.

►Need to Draw a Large Circle? Not a Problem!

  • The leg of the compass can be removed by loosening the screw holding it in place. Once removed the extension beam can be inserted in its place. With the extension beam firmly attached to the compass, you have a choice of what to attach to it. You can attach the pencil holder to the blue end of the extension beam or simply attach the leg you took off earlier. If using the pencil holder, insert a pencil or pen of your choice to get the effect you're looking for. This combination allows for drawing much larger circles with the same comfort, ease and precision as smaller circles.

►For use in STEM Projects or Home Schooling

  • When homeschooling you often need equipment that is just a little bit sturdier as it may be used both for homework and climbing trees. Create STEM projects that explore the world of Math and Geometry with this brilliant kit.

I’ve been looking for this product for years. It comes with a small compass and a large compass so you can make from the smallest circle to a large circle with a radius of 10 inches, or a diameter of 20 inches, that’s a large circle. The product is well engineered. It’s very sturdy. In the past I had to use a string tied around a pencil in order to make large circles, they weren’t pretty. Now I make beautiful large circles. In addition, there was a minor problem with the product which I reported to the company and which the company corrected immediately. They were a pleasure to work with.Over all I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND THIS COMPANY. I AM VERY, VERY HAPPY THAT I BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT.

After receiving this compass set I had a question about loosing the small screws that are used to attach the accessories . Being a bit of the paranoid type I emailed the question to the company at 10pm on a Wed. night and literally within minutes heard back from from the company (a MR. Torben Hamilton Hansen) who corresponded with me a couple times that night and offered to send me some extra screws at no charge "just in case" I misplaced any. Service like this is very rare and very appreciated. That alone would make me recommend their products! Just a note I have used the instrument and accessories and they work great and are very accurate, G skewes

I'm a quilter. Not a mathematician. I needed a tool that made accurate circles because, if nothing else, I like accuracy. This compass makes up to 22' circles. Also, after my stupid self, found the e-manual on the website, I laughed my butt off when I read the helpful, hilariously written directions. Whoever wrote this manual should write more of them. Thanks for a fine product. It's so sturdy that I won't be buying another one and the price was reasonable. The circles, appliqued on my quilt, will be lovely.

I was very pleased in the timely manner that my drafting and geometry set arrived. It wasn't even a week after placing my order that the set arrived. I also liked that the various instrument had individually sunken pockets in the case, holding each item in place. That the case had a transparent top, allowing me to see that everything is accounted for was a plus. This set could also be used by any competent captain of a large sailing vessel in charting routes on the seas. A very fine set of instruments at a very low asking price.

Funny. I have a compass that was my dad's when he was in high school in the early 60s, so between him and I it's been in regular use for 60 years and still in perfect shape and as accurate as it ever was. I wanted a 2nd for my shop ... and I have NEVER been able to find one that even comes close to that simple compass's accuracy and reliability. I thought I was just aiming too low on the price scale and needed to cough up a little more for the quality ... well apparently not (or not enough). The "legs" on this thing bend near the ends, but the screws even as tight as they go do not lock them in place ... so they occasionally bend in slightly, sometimes even imperceptibly ... and now your diameter is off. They're not horrible, but I'm not impressed and I'm still looking ... again.P.S. the case was also smashed-in right out of the box.

I went through Engineering school in the 70's, and the 'art of drafting' was still all about C & D sized paper on very nice drafting tables. I've owned numerous sets of drafting tools, from Acco and Staedtler to several nice (albeit obsolete) German sets. That said, this little 'Ferocious Viking' set is not half bad!I hear everyone's complaints here in the comments about 'plastic this' or 'plastic that'...I have news for them, the last 3-Staedtler sets I purchased (and paid EXTRAVAGANTLY FOR) were also partially plastic. That said, here's the truth:The plotter pen DOES have a plastic 'press fit' handle...but the handle DOES remove, so that you can use the plotter pen in the compasses (try that on a low-end Staedtler!). The small spring compass is ALL metal, and the legs are cast, not 'press-bent' sheet metal...and I've had SEVERAL Staedtler's that 'feel similar' in overall weight and quality. The wheel compass (everyone seems to be calling this a 'lock compass', erroneously...since a lock compass also incorporates a 'locking mechanism' on the wheel, which this one does not have...and I haven't seen a lock on a The sharpener is chinsy and plastic, but WILL sharpen a 2mm lead quite nicely (the lead size, since it is not listed, and no one mentioned it, should you want to order extra). The wheeled compass DOES have plastic 'screw anchors', but then again, MANY MODERN COMPASSES do! To 'break one', having read some of these comments...all I can say is 'STOP TREATING PRECISION TOOLS LIKE LAWNMOWERS!' If you are forcing it, you are doing something VERY WRONG! If you don't know how to use it, watch a few YT videos first, and understand how to use a tool properly! All this said...this is a FINE tool set for ANY introductory class. I bought this set myself, so I wasn't pulling out my 100+ piece (mixed) engineering set to draw simple circles or lines with...and it works JUST AS WELL AS what I would expect from a $55 Staedtler set of comparable tools...IT IS A GOOD SET...but again, it is NOT a classic Keuffel set, either!I gave it 4-stars, because the fit of the beam to the large compass was VERY tight, and took a small bit of 'opening' of the receiving post on the compass to get it to insert properly. I DIDN'T BREAK ANYTHING DOING THIS, but the leg was a bit tight...the beam is also high quality, by the way...I would highly recommend this set for any high school and possibly non-engineering major college drafting work...

Accurate compass for a minimal price. A plastic piece broke when tightening it and the company replaced it free of charge right away. My only complaint is that the metal end 'tongs' are machined too narrowly. I have to completely remove the screw when switching attachments because it can't slide out the end. Otherwise the compass keeps its position precisely during use, is nicely balanced, and it comes with a variety of attachments.
