I used this to keep the timing on my daughter’s mini, everything installed as it should, but ended up not having to change the timing, as it was the vanos system that was failing. But from and install point of view, and how the tool felt. I don’t think I would have any issues with it, if I had to change the timing.

This kit contains everything you need to properly time your N12 engine. The tools look a little rough at first glance but they are sturdy and fit perfectly.I've read a couple of reviews that complain about the fit but I wonder if that could be more to do with not getting the cams and crank absolutely spot on before fitting the tools. My advice for getting the crank pin in is to use an endoscope, fed in across the top of the exhaust and under the sump so that it looks directly (more or less) into the hole in the engine case. Get the 'dimple' in the flywheel dead centre and the timing pin will slide right in. Be sure to use the right pin for your car (I believe one is for an automatic and one for a manual). My car is a manual and the pin with the larger diameter body fitted perfectly, whereas the narrower one was not tight. For the price, I can thoroughly recommend this kit.

Works exactly like the factory tool.As always, does not come with directions, but follow the service manual proceedure, and this works exactly like the original tool.

Ventured into changing my timing chain on my N18 mini and this locked it in great and made the job much easier. straight forward operation. Use the "bently" and follow the directions.

Very nice kit for setting up a Mini Cooper engine for a timing chain replacement. Functions overall very much like the factory tooling. I did make some minor adjustments to the exhaust cam holder to give adequate clearance while the turbo is installed on my N14 engine, hence only 4 stars. But the value for the money can't be beat. Definitely will work for other engines, just only have experience with the N14 engine.Update: I also ended up using it later for an N18 engine in a 2012 Countryman. Worked great with no complaints. I did add a few washers to the center connection as the bolt was longer than the tapped hole.

Used on a 2012 mini cooper countryman with the n18 engine. Accurately sets the timing after a timing chain installation. The engine computer adaptations MUST be reset with software upon completion or else timing codes will persist.

Fits perfectly fine on crank and cam. I recommend this if doing a timing chain replacement. I tried to repair it without it, my timing slipped immediately when I removed the tensioner and exhaust sprocket. I got a check engine light. After I bought this tool on Amazon. I installed it perfectly and reset my timing. Everything ran perfect! Thnx Amazon!

Took a bit of fiddling to zero in on the correct parts to use on an R60. Mini engineers had the timing alignment at a loaded position on both cams. Used an open end wrench to hold the cam in place while fastening the cam jigs in place. Fitting the correct flywheel lock is a two person operation. The wife did a great job easing in on the crank bolt while I was under the car to slip in the lock. The fit was very nice. Engine ran with no codes after top end reassembly.

Cam tools worked fine. Flywheel alignment pin had weak handle, but worked fine with a little TLC. Tools were adequate for the job at an inexpensive cost.
