Great for replacing instead of paying dealer OEM.

This was to replace worn out non-functional switch. This was a perfect replacement. Granted, need some mechanical skill to replace. Good quality fit and function.

As many Toyota owners know, the hatch/tailgate lift handle on their car can deteriorate to sticky goo. No point in cleaning the old one, the deteriorating rubber eventually bleeds into everything, including the switch in the handle assembly. This is a complete replacement of the the switch and fits like a glove. To clean up the old rubber is the hard part--use a flat screwdriver to get most of it, then paint thinner and several rags to get the rest.A tip--this switch comes in two styles--one manual (just the switch) and the combo for the cars with the "smart key" for a substantially higher price. Even though I have the smart key feature, I just spliced this switch into the existing wiring--and much to my surprise, that's apparently what the factory does. So, a little heat-shrink tubing and you've saved yourself $20.

This is the 2 wire version. It works with the base model Prius. Mine is a 2007)The 4-wire version is require for the smart key version, becuz there is a hatch release button (small, square, black) on the hatch that needs 2 of the wires.

This switch is "necessary but insufficient" to replace stock equipment on a 2008 Toyota Prius hatch door. The complete assembly includes the hatch release switch AND a "lock button" on the same harness. I was able to make this item (release switch only) work with my vehicle by soldering the release switch onto the wires for the existing "lock button" harness, but I'm guessing that most people wouldn't want to go to that trouble.

IMO overpriced but I guess it's still a fair amount cheaper than the OEM release and was a perfect fit. Note to save the hassle removing the inner hatchback cover I was able to remove the screws that held this in(let me tell you not a easy task as they were in TIGHT and required a short 90 degree philips driver) pull mine out a few inches and simply replace the rubber part off this one. My switch was fine, just the rubber had rotted and got hard. I scraped it off my old switch, installed the rubber off this one and wala, easy to push again! Hope this one doesn't rot and make my fingers black like the old one....Oh it was used on a '07 Toyota Prius.1+ year update, new rubber is making my fingers black every time I use this button! 1 year is really pathetic, I thought the 5+ years the OEM lasted before it made my fingers black was bad, 1+ year is totally unacceptable. I've now resorted to covering the rubber part with black tape which will probably either fall off or get sticky at some point, but still better than black fingers! updating stars from 4 to 2 due to the very early issues with this replacement switch :(
