Flimsy and not accurate. If you make it too tight, the bottom guide key pops out. Would be ok for shed doors, not for interior finish work. Hinge mortise is sloppy and not very precise. It is off 1/16" top to bottom. Doesn't seem like a lot, but if you want to do quality work, it is. I shimmed it with masking tape to get a precise cut and transferred it to a piece of 3/4 plywood to act as the real template.

Everything on this except the bits and "wrench" are made of plastic. Even the vice and vice screw to attach it to the door is plastic! That plastic screw will never last. Very cheaply made for something meant to be used as a tool. Disappointing for the price. The instructions are pretty bad and incomplete. If you are an experienced DIYer, you can probably figure it out, but they should include clear, concise instructions. Because you are using high speed power tools, you can get hurt if you do it wrong. That's the other thing - this uses a router bit, but they show a drill being used in the pictures. That just wouldn't work at all, and would be dangerous! You will definitely mess up your door, and possibly your hand/arm/body as well. You absolutely need a router to use this template correctly. As cheaply as this is made, it does mostly work. You will still need a chisel to clean the cuts up and massage it for the hinge to fit tightly and correctly, but this gets you most of the way there. It's better than nothing, but only if you are experienced in DIY.

This door hinge jig makes installing hinges a breeze. It’s adjustable for different hinge sizes, and the template ensures accurate cuts every time. The build quality is solid, and it works well for both DIYers and professionals.

For occasional use this works great. If you’re doing a lot of doors, I would recommend something. That’s a little bit more solid.

I have put in a few doors in my time. This made the process way easier. Don't get me wrong, i love playing with my chisels and carving out stuff, but i hate doing it on something that's already installed. This thing made the process simple just for the plate itself, its all i used it for as i prefer 0-clearance hinges so i don't have to damage the frame or door at all so it's reusable. The screw action that clamps is sufficient to hold it in place. as with any clamp if you clamp too hard you will damage something, fair warning. If you only have to use this once i wouldn't recommend it.if you are remodeling intensively and potentially moving doors around this is an absolute time saving win. i still have many uses for this personally as a wood worker, being able to put hinges on boxes with precision is going to be quite helpful for years down the road.Great product.

This jig set is decent to get the job done. It secures easily to align the template but the whole thing is plastic so it likely isn't something you'll want to rely on if you plan to use it a whole lot. If you just plan to use it on a couple doors, it should be just fine.
