I had bought 3 of these starters for my two boats and all 3 went bad within the first week of use. One went bad before it left the dock for the first time.

The one shipped to me had no paint on it at all. I am not sure how well this will hold up in a marine environment. It appears brand new, but with no protective coating, it might not last in the boat. Strange that it wouldn't be as pictured on Amazon

UPDATE TO REVIEW Sep 2017Updating from 5 stars to 1 star. Originally thought this appeared to be a quality-made starter, but I was mistaken. The starter saw only occasional and non-abusive use for one year. Two days after the warranty period of one year expired, the starter failed. Furthermore, the seller refused to honor the warranty despite the fact the starter was not actually in service for one full year, citing the fact that their warranty period starts on the shipping date rather than the delivery or installation date. I give one star to the starter; this should not be a routine failure item. If I could give zero stars to the seller for being so cheap about their warranty, I would.
