A bit disappointing for my application. Reading the rpm's on my gas motor turning an airplane propeller. You have to put on an included reflector tape which is never mentioned in the sales pitch. This could influence the balance of the propeller. It's also big and bulky and the instructions are poor. Doesn't seem to work very well.

I have an antique wood lathe with a treadmill motor and it was very easy to set up and check the speeds.

I just needed something to help me sort thru various salvaged electric motors. Works fine , the reflective tape can be subbed for just a lighter color piece of tape or a white dot of paint. The only negative I see is I wish it had a separate ON/OFF switch because even thru the protective pouch the "read" button can pressed, draining the battery over time.

Checked a fan different speeds put tape on car engine crank. Damper did change on acceleration but don’t know if the revolutions were write but did give close enough pretty neat item need to find car with tach to be sure! Would recommend!

I returned this product because it did not meet my expectations. I never used it, but I suspect that it works as advertised. However, in the Ad, it stated that the product was a "touchless tachometer". That may be true after set up is accomplished. However, having to place a piece metallic reflecting tape on a rotating object is not to feasible in many cases. Rotating objects usually have guards place over them for safety reasons. In order to place tape on the rotatable object one have to remove any protective guard or obstructions to gain access to the rotatable object. I was not prepared, nor is it sometimes feasible, to disassemble any protective covers/guards. Therefore I returned the product.
