This unit is capable of magnifying small things quite well. As a learning toy for youngsters with acces to portable devices, it is probably a good value. That said, I have several things to mention:This really intends to be used with a portable, not with a pc (my preferred platform for this kind of use). Not having good software for Windows is a real problem for me. It works fine on my Android tablet, but that is not where I prefer to manage images. I am also unimpressed with the app.Second issue is the platform itself does not easily manage magnification of complex objects. I found depth of field to be touchy even for well illuminated flat subjects.I suspect that this can work for an audience that is learning about small things. However, I can not recommend it based on my own testing.

The item works fine. I don’t know about 1000 times magnification bcz I checked on how powerful a microscope has to be to see microbes and it doesn’t magnify that strongly. I guess the FTC isn’t that intimidating to stop false or misleading ads. Furthermore, the intrusive app forces you to relinquish ownership of any and all photos and video captured which is a Chinese crock of do-do! So I’m sure to add some unrealistic spice for them to gaze at.

I doubt that this goes all the way up to 1600x, but it does a few hundred, and that's definitely useful. Remarkable quality, clear images. To get more than the lowest magnification, you must remove the protective cover over the lens, because that cover goes beyond the focal length at high magnification. In the future I might grind that cover down until it's shorter. There is only one adjustment knob, that is for both focus and magnification. At low magnification it's mechanical, so as you increase the magnification you move closer in, to match the focal length at which that magnification is in focus. At some point it switches over to electronic, so the "focal length" stays about constant. This constant focal length is less than the depth of the protective cover, as I noted above, so I am operating it with the cover off until I shorten the cover. This is an opportunity for the seller to improve the product, but I am giving five stars because it's such a nice product anyway.A little stand is provided, so you don't have to hold the microscope, but then you have to set up the sample at the right focal length. At the highest magnifications, hand tremor became an issue, so I may set up a better arrangement to hold the sample that I can adjust toward the microscope with a knob. Or since the focal length is constant, attach the sample vertically, then slide the microscope forward until it comes into focus.

I got this to use with my kids and niece and they really loved it. They were outside collecting all sorts of things to look at under the microscope. We even looked in our ears! It plugs in and sets up easy with the app to your phone and used a USB-C connection. I really like that it can take photos to check out later, though keep in mind that the pictures will blur if the camera moves at all.

This is an ultra powerful microscope (50x-1600x). Plugs directly into my iPhone as wel and captures magnificent magnified pictures in stunning quality. Great for hobbiest or would work great for working on small electronics. Pairing the microscope to your iPhone is simple and requires no instructions just plug and play. The stand is helpful and adjustable to get the perfect zoom you're looking for.

I've been wanting a digital microscope to help me inspect my plants from pests, so I figured I'd give this Leipan Digital Microscope a shot. I like that it came with a firewire and usb-c cable, but the firewire will soon be obsolete. Regardless, that doesn't bother me too much. I hooked it up to my phone, downloaded the UseePlus app and I was ready to go! I'm happy to report, my plants don't have any pests so far, and I'll definitely be inspecting others as I water and bring some in from the outdoors in the next few weeks. The microscope itself is light, and I appreciate that it has a cap, but I know for sure, that's the first thing that's going to get lost. The stand is unfortunately plastic, and I question it's longevity, but it is nice that you can turn and swivel it on a ball 360 degrees, as well as tilt it 180 degrees forward and back, horizontally, which is really helpful for it's stability. The app allows you to take videos and pictures, and the dial to focus and magnify is super intuative and easy to manage with one hand. Keep in mind, the app does create it's own album and doesn't import the photos and videos you take with it, directly onto your phone, you'll have to prompt it to do so and choose the files yourself. Personally I like that better either way. So far, I've inspected fabric, plants, surfaces and all kinds of random things all over my house. The images are super sharp and clear and I believe this will be my new little buddy to help me fulfill my nerdy tendencies.

I bought it to look at the trichomes on some plant or another I was growing. Took a BIT of a learning curve to get it dialed in, but once I did, it took me all of 15 seconds to get a good view off of a freshly-snipped flower. Very fine microscope.
