I work for a big grocery retail store. I work as a butcher and we are not allowed to have any outside sharpeners in the meat room. I found these and bought two different ones. They dont look like a knife sharpener and I can keep them on my belt loop without anyone knowing what they are. They work awesome for the long days when I was fighting to keep my knives sharp with cheap means. Worth every penny

The small size is great to take with you anywhere you will need a sharp blade, i.e. fishing or hunting or working outdoors. The fine grade works quickly to restore a mildly dull blade to very, very sharp. If you need extremely sharp, try the extra fine, but it will take a while on a dull blade, or conversely use the coarse one on very dull blades, then switch to the fine, and on up.

? this was only less than $8 ? Oh Me Gosh !I have been trying to sharpen knives for months, trying the stones, and an hour of multiple grade sandpaper - 800 to 3000, and best I got was the 'tear cut' on paper.10 minutes with this and I have 3 blades that cut paper -- without the tearing on microscopic level so to speak --I have been looking at diamond sharpeners for a while, thought they were a bit expensive, but with these results I believe they are well worth the price. and this one is a handy back pack size at a very good price. One tip, there are several ways to sharpen a knife, I found it hard to keep the knife steady on the same angle with the sharpener on the table, so I hold the knife steady and use the sharpener like a file, -for me- this gives me the control to keep the angle, even around the corner to the point. Light stroke in, and even lighter stroke back, and not 90 to the blade but 30 -- not the angle of the grind but rather the angle of the file to the blade length, results in file lines going along the blade edge rather than directly into the edge.Yes I recommend this product, Yes I will be purchasing the coarser and finer versions to go along with this, Yes this is the Best back pack/ prep-kit sharpener I have ever seen.

I've always been fascinated with sharpening a knife, I think every real man has been, it's in our dna at birth to be drawn towards sharp dangerous things, and things that go boom. I've attempted to obtain razor edges on every knife I've owned, Arkansas stone, the big set that comes with rods and clamps, the infamous sharpening steel that your butcher makes look way too easy, with a bad ass sound that you'd love to make. That sound is great until you dull every knife in the house not knowing what you're doing. I've owned them all and still have a majority of them, even after 30 years of attempting to have every blade around me sharp enough to shave the family pet, I still can't get it the correct angle and end up with a very sharp blade, but not the razor edge I've always wanted. The dmt "red fine" sharpener is another one of my attempts to find that magical sharpener that'll achieve what I desire, but no sharpener will ever do that, this is a tool, it's only as good as the hands behind it. It's a fine grit sharpener but you won't know exactly how fine until you drag a blade across it, in my opinion this should be considered a medium grit sharpener. They have course, ex course, fine, ex fine, ex ex fine, why not a medium? Who knows, but this is well built and hopefully will survive on my key chain, seeing how much our keys get thrown around. I only gave it four stars because the two plastic nipples that hold it open and closed, seem under built or rather could improve upon. The sharpener is cheap enough so I think I'll get an extra fine for a more finishing edge. Time will tell how it holds up, if it breaks it'll still serve as a good sharpener for the drawer as long as it isn't lost if it blows apart somewhere unnoticed. I ordered this along with a rat 1 g10 folder and it would shave my arm, so I'd say from my own opinion that this would be great for getting a blade back in shape and then using a finer grit for finishing, great buy and nothing but super service as usual for amazon!

This thing is the perfect shape and size for sharpening router bits and small shaper cutters. Because it is thin, it will fit between the flat surface of the carbide and the body of the bit. With a little water as lube, a few strokes of this against the flat of the carbide will bring new life to those old bits that tend to cause tear out and chatter as they lose their edge.If you've never sharpened your own before, do a search for sharpening router bits and check it out. Its the easiest thing you can do, and will cut out some of the sanding necessitated by dull bits. For eight bucks, your money is made back the first time you use it.

The DMT key chain sharpener is honestly one of the best sharpening products that I've ever purchased. While it isn't the highest quality, most effective sharpening tool on the market, it's sleek design and price make it a formidable foe for other portable sharpening competition.- Perfect for quick touch ups on plain edge knives and tools.- Compact design for easy carry in your pocket, on your keyring, in a toolbox or in a purse.- The ability to fold the sharpener up helps to protect any other objects you may have in your pockets/toolbox/purse from getting scratched up.- A few drops of water and a minute or two can with this can give you a very sharp edge. (for even finer edges check out the extra fine grit model)- Not the highest quality or best sharpener out there, but for the price, it CANNOT be beat.
