Stainless steel braided cord is useful for many things.This was a lower cost option that searching for "stainless steel fishing leader line" but does the part awesomely.If you need to know how strong it is, there are resources online that show strength based on diameter, so that trick is helpful too

The way that they coil the product at the factory unfortunately introduces a twist for each coil. When you uncoil it, I would suggest clamping one end to a table leg, uncoiling a small amount, then turning the entire bundle in your hand to the right a few times to remove the twists and keep doing this until the entire bundle is uncoiled and laying flat, to get all the twists out and avoid a giant knot. Otherwise it will snap into a giant knot from all the twists introduced when it was coiled at the factory.

I have used this roll a number of times for various things...Hanging heavy pictures, making custom motorcycle cables, one-of-a-kind lawnmower control cables, used it for training tree and shrub branches (wrap it with some 1/4" plastic tubing first), strengthening turnbuckles for a garden gate.....And I still have half the roll. very handy. Not real stiff, so it can be easily handled. It is EXTREMELY strong. I would buy this again. I highly recommend it. Thanks once again, Amazon.

In the process of making a robotic glove-hand for Marlene, a 90 yr old friend with arthritis in one hand . Just slip in the hand and the mechanism exercises the hand. Her husband Roger went to the hospital to pick her up, and I was scrambling to finish it, but, sadly, she passed unexpectedly before he arrived to bring her home. The unfinished hand works perfect, but will sit in the garage shelf identified as Marlene’s Hand. NOTE: all parts, motor, crimping tool for the cable and more all available from Amazon, and this was my first attempt at anything robotic.

the trunk release cable broke on my 2010 Toyota corolla, it's really difficult to find a reasonably priced replacement, so I left the cable housing in place, pulled the broken core out, and was able to push this cable back through. It comes with cable crimps that can be used to attach to the actuator arms at each end, if you want a simple repair. If you are mechanically inclined, get creative and do some drilling and threading on the old ends, with a couple 4-40 screws to lock the cable. But, the crimps are a much easier fix! 1 tip, make sure the end you're feeding in is cut clean (no wire sticking out that will catch on the way) and put a drop of super glue gel on on the end, let it set completely and wipe off any excess before you feed it through. This will help hold the end together, and eliminate snags. The housing has a slick interior, and slides easily! The original cable is just some kind of mild steel, and I expect this Stainless Steel cable will probably out last the car.
