Picked this up to use as a winch cable for my ATV snow plow and so far it's been very good. It wasn't made for my particular winch so I had to make some an important modification (found out the hard way) - I had to remove one of the roll bars on the winch that guides the cable back onto the winch spool because if the cable gets pulled in too far, the nipple or neck of the cable right before the steel hook will get lodged in those guides and it is very hard/impossible to get it back out depending on how hard it is jammed up in there. Once I removed the upper roll bar/guide on the winch, the cable was freed and now it works great.

Good package with a 25' piece of seemingly good quality wire rope with a swaged eye on one end. I'm using it as a winch line on my side by side. It's ever so lightly smaller than 1/4" (.23") but otherwise seems very good.

I am using this 1/4" cable as a diagonal brace for a 500-pound metal gate.I'll be making two diagonal supports, one for each (250-pound) half of the gate.I was hoping that the write-up, which indicates "The package contains: 1 x 50ft steel cable with loops" would prove correct and the cable would actually have loops at each end, and not just a single loop at one end, as the picture shows.However, while I hoped for two loops, I planned for a single loop and added additional thimbles and cable clamps to the order...Just in case.Even though I was slightly disappointed, I still gave the cable 5-stars, because of the high quality.

The cable seems sturdy enough. I bought this because my old cable was getting worn from 25 years of occasional use. My only complaint is that there is no crimped loop on each end. I had to use the included hardware to install one, but it is not as strong as a crimped loop. Not sure why they didn't just crimp loop each end.
