I bought this because I had a couple older of the dewalt self-feed bits but needed a different size, expecting the same results. Well, this has a flaw that is really frustrating. I'm going through 2 3/4" joists in a 200+ year old house. When the bit gets about 1/3 of the way in, it starts torquing side to side. Fought through it for the first couple holes...and then I realized that the bit was clogging with chips. So now it's taking me about 3 shots to get each hole done. Work until it shimmies, then pull it out and clear out the bit with a small screwdriver...hit it a 2nd time, then repeat the pull-out, then finally get all the way through. And about that last bit...once the self fead leader is clear through, it takes a good push to get the rest of the bit clear through, since you've lost your self-feed capability. I only have about 16 holes to do, or else I'd pull out my Milwaukee right angle drill with an auger bit. Since I just got a new 20v Dewalt cordless, which has a much smaller body than my prior 18v, I thought it would be easiest just to use that and this shorter bit, the combination of which allowed me to work in between joists without the hole hawg. Oh well, better luck next time...

Can't go wrong for the price. Craps out after about 500 hole and gets harder to get a bite to start the holes.
