This is a really nice, very basic microscope for a younger kid. It is very rugged and all components are designed in a way to prevent accidental damage. It comes with a set of slides that fit nicely underneath. The viewfinder shows a decent quality image, allowing you to see the finer detail of the slide content. Focusing takes a little getting used to, as does moving the slide precisely, but that can be mastered within a couple of minutes. The lighting is very powerful. Making the content easy to see. It has a medium weight to it, so it isn't too heavy for a kid, but it isn't so light that it will easily get knocked around. Overall, very worthwhile for somebody who isn't ready for a more complex children's microscope yet.

Like any microscope, it takes some fiddling around to get your image looking perfect on the screen, but the results I could get far exceeded my expectations. The first photo shown is the denim on my jeans. The next is from my phone to show the comparison between a dime and the size of the eye on the duck. The final photo is taken by the microscope. When looking at the screen rather than a photo taken by the microscope the results are even more refined. The screen is really good but the processing for the photos could be better. Then again, check out my results! The lighting is fantastic even if you are only looking at something from the top down. Lighting is easily controlled from an easily accessible dial. The other controls are also very easy to use and they adjust smoothly. Once you have dialed them in they stay put as long as you don’t bump them. This is probably what you would expect anyway, but I have looked at a couple of inexpensive microscopes and often they change focus on their own just due to gravity. They are super annoying! This is not a Fisher-Price toy. I wouldn’t recommend this for any child under 5 and even at that, your child may not be careful enough to be able to use this microscope without damaging it. I’d suggest your child be at least a careful 7 year old before they use this. I wouldn’t let them put in the power cord or the MicroSD card. In fact, the MicroSD card is a bit of a challenge to correctly situate even for me. Also note that the card goes in upside down! Your child also won’t be able to adjust the photographic settings until they are older. One thing you might want to adjust for them is the time and date as well as whether it shows the information on the screen or not.The seller speaks of a case but there is no case. Perhaps they meant the housing of the microscope. A case would be a good idea if you were to take it anywhere. The price of $66 is fair given the great quality of the optics.

This is so fun for my 6 year old! It's so educational and you can really put anything under the scope to inspect it. Great gift!

This is a really cool and fun gadget. However, it took us quite a while to figure out. The picture quality is just ok for the price of the scope. My son ended up getting two different ones for Christmas and he plays with the other over this one due to ease of use.

- I was amazed at how clear the display is based on the price I paid- it's easy for the kids to handle, adults and kids have had tons of fun looking at things around the house- the controls are easy to understand (even when you accidentally choose default setting and everything switches to symbols not used in English;)- the magnification and focus are smooth, better quality than I paid for- the battery life has been good so far (it does have the option to adjust the sleep timer)- we haven't actually busted into the accessories, besides the stand, but haven't needed to because it's so fun taking it right to what you wanna check out

Our son loves using this mini handheld green and white microscope. It’s very lightweight and it’s very easy to use. It’s very easy to slip a slide under the lit viewer. We can turn and adjust the green dial on the back of the microscope to move it up and down and move the black dial back and forth to bring the slide into focus, so it’s easier to see. It’s digital and has video and photo capability. It has great potential and it makes learning about science fun and interesting. We highly recommend this educational microscope for its tremendous value and it’s money well spent.

I am not sure why they market this BEBANG mini-microscope for kids because it clearly can be used by adults for their hobby and in any business where you need to view and document anything small. Clearly this would be an extraordinarily useful tool for anyone into coins, stamps, currency, or documents. I can also see an agricultural buyer using it for a field inspection and report generation on various crops, or a technician inspecting something like a circuit board and being able to send detailed videos for assistance. If it is being used by an adult, they can be thankful that BEBANG didn't make it look like a cute little animal, like some of the other similar devices have done. For some reason they don't give much information about the photo and video capabilities, but I was getting really decent photos and videos that I could view directly on a Windows PC (don't know about apple) and 27” 4K monitor. You can also plug it into your PC (Windows 10) and using the “camera” application, view the images on the microscope directly on your larger screen. I have not tried it, but I think you could also view the photos and videos on your cell phone or smart TV as well. The device can be used hand-held or with the stand and comes with sample slides and a movable stage and other handy accessories. This is truly a great tool for kids of ANY age..
