I wanted to automate my Lego technic car and this was the cheapest and perfectly engineered radio controlled circuit I was looking for.

I have a remote control car that I made. I used this transmitter and receiver to connect to motor controllers which allow the car to turn left or right. I found it easy to figure out what channel matched what wire with a volt meter. My car runs great and can accept multiple signals at the same time with this transmitter at the same time. I recommend this to a hobbyist that wants 8 channels with a 3volt receiver. I ended up using a step down buck module that turned 12volts into the correct voltage not to fry this device as the voltage it needs a lower amount.

I'm new to building RC vehicles so this is more of my problem than the remote. I tried to pair the remote with 2 cheap 6v brushed motors and even they drew too much power. The receiver must have a built in overload circuit because after powering the motor for few seconds it would seem to trip out, the LED light would flash and it would kill the power to the motors. Guess I was trying to pull too many amps. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I created a remote control rose prop for my production of Beauty and the Beast, the musical. I originally was going to use a much nicer receiver and transmitter, but I only needed 4 channels. So I ended up using this one. The first remote I received did not connect with the transmitter. I had a replacement sent and it worked immediately. I figured for the price, even if I have to replace this thing, it was worth it.

Motor 3 doesn't work, so plan on getting the 4 channel version if you plan on using 3 motors.

I purchased 6 of these for a company event. Each one had the same issue--the right D-Pad could only turn the motor on full speed. Once it was on it could not be turned off without powering down the receiver board. I loved the controller that came with it, and the left D-Pad worked great! But ultimately these were not usable.

This is great for DIY projects. It's cheap (affordable) for a reason. The initial rewire to put it all into an old toy boat for my kid was fairly easy. Simple. Straightforward. To get the antenna range it is capable of, I had to do a little bit of research into the correct positioning for a 2.4ghz receiver antenna. I also pulled the controller open and used a soldering iron to remove buttons in the controller that were not needed for the boat. The boat ran perfectly. Then? A couple of my son's younger friends SANK the boat...and put the controller in the bottom of the pool as well. The electronics are not waterproof. So....I'll be buying a second one soon. :-)
