Very substantial. Should be for the price. Did remove material fom outer edge of 1.5 inch pvc pipe. I am a homeowner doing a repair. Not sure I needed to do this but playing it safe because I am an amateur.

If you do a lot of pvc plumbing this tool is quick and does a perfect job chamfering the outside of the pipe before cementing.

I bought this for installing 1260' of 2" bell end sch 40 PVC at our ranch (63 connections). It saved considerable time, and we had no leaking joints. I would've liked the chamfer to be a bit larger, but the fact that no joints leaked says it's good enough.

Just plain trash! I’ve bought 2 of these and both don’t work. The first one had the blade drilled when it was upside down so when it’s screwed down the share edge is 1/4 of an inch away from the pipe and can’t cut. The second attempt on the replacement was not much better. While the blade was correctly installed it didn’t chamfer AT ALL on 4 inch PVC pipe. I had some smaller 1-1/4 PVC sitting around so I gave that a whirl, and the cutter did give a bevel, albeit not as deep as it should be but still there was somewhat of a bevel. However, and looking at this thing and trying to get it to work on 4 inch pipe I realized it’s a design defect. The cutter blade’s slot is such that it’s protruding about what it should be for the smallest (1-1/4) pipe because for that size there’s a 1/4 inch inset where the pipe sits deeper than all the other sizes. As soon as you got to a larger pipe size that 1/4 inch inset is no longer there causing the butter blade to barley if at all touch the the edge of the pvc pipe. You might be able to scrape a heavy burr off with this thing but it absolutely does not bevel on bit! If you want a laugh, look at the product photos under the “product description” where you see a white glove hand using this thing on a grey pipe. Somehow the pipe is grey conduit but suddenly it turns to black ABS drain pipe as it touches the cutter head and then shift changes from black to grey as the shavings get farther away from the device. Oh, and the plastic shavings in the photo are curling in the opposite direction from what they should be doing.
