I needed to fix something at the office, so I ordered this inexpensive power supply. Something told me to check it out at home before I brought it into the office. When I first turned it on, I was able to vary the voltage, but when I put any kind of load on it, it tripped the circuit breaker. I tried this a few times from different outlets and it did the same thing each time. I have a device that is a resettable fuse so I connected the power supply to that so that I wouldn’t have to reset the circuit breaker each time and determine what was going on, but the power supply shorted the 120 VAC so fast it tripped the circuit breaker through the resettable fuse, which I’ve never seen before. Clearly, this power supply was defective and in fact, dangerous. I contacted Amazon and they arranged to have another one sent a few days later and guess what? It did the exact same thing. I then ordered a little bit more expensive power supply from another company, and that worked as expected. The moral of the story, stay far away from this company.

I purchased this power supply to test some antique tube-based geiger counters that originally ran on obsolete high-voltage batteries connected in series. Since modern replacements for these 45V or 67.5V batteries can be quite expensive, I wanted a reliable and adjustable power source to confirm the functionality of my equipment before making a larger investment. This power supply turned out to be a perfect solution.Right out of the box, I was impressed by its compact size—it was smaller than I expected, making it easy to fit on my workbench without taking up too much space. The setup was straightforward, and adjusting the voltage was simple and precise. I tested it on multiple pieces of vintage electronics, and it performed flawlessly in every case. The voltage output was stable, and I encountered no issues with noise or fluctuation, which is crucial when dealing with sensitive tube-based circuits. If you're working with old tube electronics or any other equipment that requires adjustable high-voltage DC power, this unit is an excellent choice. It's cost-effective, reliable, and easy to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a flexible power solution for vintage or specialized electronic projects.

I use power supplies at work. Most the time they're a lot more sophisticated than this one is but I don't need anything crazy. You are able to limit ants that are being drawn which is awesome. Unless I'm constantly drawing six or more amps at 12 volts I have yet to have the fan turn on. It's not super quiet but it's not bad. I love the fact that I can use standard banana clips, vast majority of what I do at work we use those so it's a massive win for me. I did modify mine, I added a standby switch because I do not like how it turns on and immediately has power. Standby switch was just wired in series to the positive line. Hence the 4.5 stars, even though Amazon only lets me do five.

So far so good. I'm just a tinkerer but hooked a multimeter up and tried various stress tests and the voltage held up. The two USB ports seem to work as they should so only time will tell if it is going to last.

Had a problem with one of these power supplies and the company took care of it. Excellent customer service. This is a Switching type of power supply so there will be some noise on the output but can be filtered a number of different ways. The Display is bright, large and very easy to read and moderately accurate. Would be nice if calibration information were provided in the owners manual. Also wish it had an output on/standby switch so I could turn connected systems on/off without turning the power supply actually on/off. All the linear power supplies that I have designed and built have that feature and very handy at times.Overall a nice compact and useful power supply but not sure I would use it with

I ordered the 5A model, but I'm pretty sure the 10A model also functions just as well. I have a much older power supply. They are reliable but super heavy and very large. Also, the one I have has a manual gauge. So I was looking to upgrade and decided to go with this. This is a small power supply with a lot of power. It's also very precise. You can adjust the voltage and amperage easily within small intervals. There are course and fine knobs that allow you to fine-tune the right voltage and amperage. The power supply comes with short circuit protection and an alarm. It beeps and shuts down if short circuit is detected. Also, one thing I like about having this newer power supply on my workbench is that it comes with USB-A and USB-C charging ports. I know it's trivial, and we take USB chargers for granted, but in my case, I had to disconnect my USB block charger to hook this one up and didn't want to connect an extension cord. But I also don't have too many USB devices on that bench. So I just use the provided ports. Very convenient. From what I can tell, using the ports while using the power supply doesn't affect the voltage or amperage. But 1: I have not done any exhaustive tests, and 2: it's possible with higher loads, you may notice a drop, 3: always take a safe approach. One quick note, just make sure your input voltage is set to the correct voltage. In my area we use 110V. This power supply takes both 110V (115V) and 220V 230V). When I received mine, it was set to 230V so I had to move it to 115V.Final notes on this, I find this power supply to be quite powerful and versatile. But it's also accurate. I used a few different kinds of multimeters and found the readings to be quite accurate. It's a great power supply to have.

This is a powerful power supply that can provide combination of DC voltage 0-31V and current 1-5A. Both voltage and current can be independently and accurately set. There are 4 knobs for the control, two are for voltage adjustment, one is for each step at 1V, the other one is each step at 0.01V. The other two are for current adjustment. One is for 0.1A, the other one is for 0.001A. Unlike voltage, the current is only set a maximum limit, not a steady current for the output. The actual current depends on the load. There is a 3rd row of display is to show the current watt. It is multiplied by voltage and current. All the display are clean and easy to read. There are 2 USB ports at front for convenience of charging small electric devices. There is also a OCP switch to automatically stop output when there is a short circuit detected. Once the problem with short circuit cleared the power supply will automatically resume output. This is smart. The unit I received has the power supply input at 230V. I switched it to 115V before I plug it into wall receptacle.I like how easy to use and the capacity of power it provides. Recommend.

I recently ordered this DC bench power supply (30 volts, 5 amps) and have put it through some testing. Overall, it performs well, but I did notice a few flaws in the circuit design that are worth mentioning.First, the capacitors used in the unit are very cheap Chengx brand capacitors, which don’t give much confidence for long-term durability. Additionally, using my thermal camera, I observed that three resistors become extremely hot during operation. One is marked 101 (100Ω), and the other two are labeled 152 (1.5kΩ). I believe these two are bleeder resistors for the DC voltage, as they’re connected across the capacitors. The higher I set the voltage, the hotter they become. At the power supply’s highest voltage setting of 31 volts, these resistors reached temperatures of up to 110°C. Ideally, the manufacturer should have used higher wattage resistors or increased their values to reduce the heat buildup. However, increasing the resistor values would slow down the voltage drop when adjusting the voltage down. The fan in this unit is quite loud when it kicks in, but at lower wattages, it rarely turns on, which helps to keep the noise levels down during lighter use.In terms of performance, I conducted a load test and managed to draw a maximum of 146.9 watts (29.68 volts at 4.951 amps) before the constant current mode kicked in. This was the highest wattage I could get from the supply.I also checked the accuracy of the voltage output using my best multimeter. The voltage was very precise, generally reading only between -0.02 to +0.06 volts off from the set value. For instance, if I set the power supply to exactly 30 volts, my multimeter would display 30.06 volts, which is excellent accuracy.Regarding the USB-C port, I tested it and found that while it does support 12 volts, it only seems to handle 1 amp. When I connected it to my battery bank, it would only charge at 1 amp, and the voltage dropped to 11.4 volts. I didn’t extensively test the USB-A port, but I did connect a LED ring light to it, and it worked without issues.I also tested the voltage ripple under a 100-watt load using my oscilloscope. While I’m still relatively new to oscilloscopes and mine is a budget model, the ripple didn’t seem too bad overall. In conclusion, I think this power supply is a good deal, especially for its price. It performs well for most applications, though the hot resistors, cheaper capacitors, loud fan, and limited USB-C charging capability may be concerns if you’re planning on using it for extended periods or under heavy loads.
