The studs do not look like they are thick enough for 100 amp wiring. It says the shunt is internal. So are you going to run 100 amps through these two little studs? Maybe I am wrong here. If these two studs are for just lighting the dial up then I withdraw my review.

I was impressed with the quality. Shunt painted nicely with black shiny paint. Originally purchased for cranking battery, knowing current would exceed 100 amps when I started, but it was boring. Current would quickly fall back to zero as power was restored to battery. So moved it to RV lithium battery bank powering a 2000 watt inverter. As I often draw 120 to 170 amps the shunt heated up to point you could smell the paint cooking. This is not a product complaint. Finally I attached to my Progressive smart charger and that was perfect. It is rated at 70 amps and will put that out continuously till voltage comes up on battery. Now I can keep finger on the shunt and not get burned. It is warm but not dangerous. Now I can manually set the charge rate lower and scale is just right. So my lesson is that shunts do have a resistance and will develop voltage drop which is how they work and can heat up if the ratings are exceeded.

I bought this gauge to monitor what was going in and out of my solar batteries. The other digital gauges just showed current in one direction and zero the other direction. I wanted to know the draw after dark. Using this gauge I now know at a glance what the charge or discharge is on my batteries. It was a simple straight forward hook up and does just what I needed.

I used this connected in series with lead-acid battery to show charge/discharge current. The description states shunt not required. This meter is intended as an amp-meter and requires a shunt which is provided.Outer diameter of face is approx. 3 1/2 inches. Width of lip around face is approx. 3/8 inch.Old fashioned analog amp-meters are not common in this digital age, but this does the job very well.
