Your cart is empty.Used and acclaimed by locksmiths and builders alike, the DBB morticer has proved itself an invaluable tool for anyone who fits mortice locks. This clever jig cuts a mortice for both the lock body AND the face-plate quickly and easily--saving time and money. Vertical guides, plus height and depth stops mean you cut where you want--never where you didn't intend. The basic kit includes the three most common carbide-tipped wood cutting bits. These are 3/4" (CWB19), 7/8"(CWB22), and 1" (CWB25). A wide array of additional wood-cutting and aluminum-cutting bits are available separately. Imported from England.

This saves so much time for mortise locks. We first used it installing an Emtek mortise lock for a pocket door. The setup was quick and easy and came with everything needed except the drill of course.

I have an old house that I bought new doors for and wanted to install original mortise locks. This makes the process easier. Still need to spend a little time setting up the mortiser on your door but the process is a snap.

This mortiser isn’t perfect by any means, but what tool is. They have developed a quality tool at a reasonable price point that gets the job done. Just takes a little patience and prep. I am so satisfied with the product.

I needed to mortise 7 pocket doors with unique hardware. 7" tall, 11/16" wide, 4" deep mortise. All doors turned out perfect. I liked using my own drill so I did not have to pay for another tool. Self centering on door edge. Fully adjustable vertical and with depth stop. With drill, extension, and rubber grips, lots of leaverage and room for error. Pleasantly surprised how square and true the finished product ended up being. Positive grip on finished door. I did need to buy 11/16 bit and extention. The bits look like something from a machinist toolbox. Lots of carbide. I did chip a tooth on the new door. I was able to finish still. I had professional local door companies pass on the complexity of the mortise. I was very happy I was able to do it myself it turned out great.

Let me first clarify that I am a trim carpenter. If you are like me and in the business of working with doors and have to deal with pocket doors and mortice locks on a regular basis, get this tool. If you are just doing it for yourself and have one lock to install, get a spade bit, a chisel, mark your lines and hope you don’t drill out the side of the door. As for me, it has been a game changer. The amount of time and hassle that it saves is tremendous. Once you get used to the setup, it is a precise way of installing mortice locks in a quick and simple fashion. Watch the videos and decide for yourself, but I wish I had bought it years ago.

Great product. Had a dozen or so mortise locks to install. This was a great jig for accomplishing that task. Bits worked perfectly. It is a simpler and lest costly system than a plunge router set up.

About what one should expect for the price. Bought it to install eight or ten locks, so far works well, not 100 % accurate but close. High speed drill is a must. I plan on trying to mortise and tenon a door and gate with it. If mortising often, I would probly get the $1k machine.

Pretty disappointed, finally got a chance to open this product to use on a door installation, one of the tips was shipped unfinished, not sharpened at all, terrible quality control.
