these are sold at every price point... I have owned a lot of these through the years...used primarily for checking run-out... so the critical role is two fold...first, get the indicator where its required to test, not always easy, andrequires enough joints, to get it there.... this unit has a nice mix of joints in the rightspots for most machines.... then, it has to hold the indicator dead still, so you knowfor sure you the indicator is reading the run out, vs. possible movement of arm holding itor one of the joints below...so lock downs are important... this units lock downs are very gooda ball n clamp style. since the indicator is so light, it does not require much. the angle adjustmentsare excellent IMO.... strong magnet base, good reach...well made, you can spend less, but not for thislevel of quality... which might not be required for very simple applications... nice finish, rock solidimpressed, priced fairly considering the excellent build quality and stiffness... hard to find a flaw here,5 stars, recommended....

I counted five pivot points on this indicator holder. Plus a fine adjustment knob once you get close to the position you like. One knob tightens all five of the pivot points. So you can go from a floppy piece of spaghetti to a solid indicator position with one knob. Each small turn on the knob increases the pressure on every pivot point. Making it easy to get to the position you need to make your measurements.
