I was excited to get fresh strings, but some tiny imperfections were very disappointing. Tried to capture in photos but there's an errant wind on the G string right where I bow and the wrap on the bridge end of the A string was all frayed right when I took it out of the box. I'm happy with the sound of E A and D, but already need to replace the G

Bought these strings for my 15 year old daughter that plays the upright double bass. Her bass instructor recommended them. My daughter loves playing her bass with the new strings! She made region orchestra with these strings!

Bought a set and only put the A, D, and G strings on, recently purchased a C extension and put it on. Wow, what an incredible response, no effort at all and it just ROARS! For years I always struggled to get nice even tones on my E string (C extension) and figured it was all just bad bow technique, which it was, lol, but now it's this rich beautiful sound that cuts through the low register of the orchestra. Take that low brass! haha. So happy with these strings, totally worth their expensive price.

A decent set of bass strings for under $150. What's not to like?

Obviously upright / double bass / contrabass strings, not bass guitar !Have had these on for about 4 weeks and still settling in. A noticeable difference in tone between strings in the small practice room, but sound much more balanced in a bigger venue. Using them in a symphony orchestra with a good mixture of arco and piz. Previously used Helicores.Pros:E string (tungsten wound) has an incredible deep, clear sound. G string (titanium wound) has a big sophisticated sound, not thin or scratchy. All strings have an incredible dynamic range. Can get impressive swells by a small change in pressure.Cons: Not as loud as I was hoping for. A and D strings (nickel wound) sound very similar to Helicores. Sometimes difficult to get the G string to speak in higher positions. (Could be down to my bow / rosin combination.)Overall:I would buy these again. Would recommend them for large venues, but sound unbalanced in very small venues.

The string box was already opened when I got it. It seemed a little shady. I was supposed to get the red box from what I saw in the picture. The strings came in the brown box. I think its fine, but I hope I didn't get used strings. There is a sense of security being the first person to open a set of strings that cost more than $150. They sound great by the way.

Bought these as a spare set for my daughter for string camp. She has these on an August F Kohr bass and loves the response and sound and would want these back on the bass for replacements if needed.

I have a loud, brighter German bass that sounds wonderful. I recently put Flexocore Deluxe strings on, and found the G string to be a bit bright and thin sounding for my bass. This string has a much rounder, warmer sound that (once broken in) blended quite nicely with the rest of the set. I'm actually tempted to try a full set of Kaplans. The low end has a polite yet crisp attack and the top end is powerful, projecting and round without sounding too brittle on my instrument.10/10, would buy again.

These are D'addario's top of the line strings. The price/quality ratio seems good and I am pleased with them all.

Just put the Kaplan strings on my 1953 Kay 3/4 bass. I'm very pleased. The first thing I noticed is they have very quick response time. It is almost impossible to get the bow to skip over any string. It is now much easier to play very quick runs. The 2nd thing I noticed is they are much louder than my old set. The third thing I noticed is they can play incredibly soft. Now I can play the super soft parts with just a few hairs of the bow touching the string without sacrificing quality. I've also noticed the tone quality is much better, especially in the high registers and also low registers on the E string. They seem about the same as the old strings when playing pizz but arco is fantastic. My old Kay has new life.
