$20 will tell you if you have fuel pressure. May or may not be accurate.

For a backyard mechanic, the affordable price for this tool was perfect. Works exactly as it should, I feel the pressure regulator valve being made of plastic may be a future problem but at the low price not a big deal as it's not something I'll use on a daily basis.

Wanted to diagnose what was going on with a 258 inline six engine. Was getting some variable vacuum readings, so I knew something was going on either with the number four valves or cylinder. Bought this to try to decipher which. When hooking up and utilizing the directions exactly as stated, it rated the cylinder as “good”. When hooking pressure directly up to the cylinder, bypassing the compression gauge, you could hear leaking through the valve cover and oil dipstick. Verified three times at cylinder was at true TDC. Piece of junk.

Couldn't get a compression reading on a flathead Tecumseh because of the compression release. The leak down tester allowed me to get a reading without the compression relief engaged. Compression was good, carburetor was not. Saved doing a valve job.
