On of my CV joint boots slipped of my SXS so I needed a band and tools to repair it. This worked great!

This is the ultimate clumsy af product for home mechanics, but it will do the job, if you take the time to figure out how you’re going to place it, so you can actually turn the damn levers. Easy enough to use once you get it rolling, but doesn’t come with instructions that I saw, and it’s not the most initiative.Step 1. Get the appropriate sized band that you need(works on zip ties too if thin enough) and make your loop around whatever your sealing/tying off.Step 2. Make sure that the flat side of half cutting wheel on the end is in-line with the opening slit in the very end of the tool, and that the twisting lever toward the hand grip is turned with the opening in line with the other two.Step 3. Feed the loose tail of your tie through all three openings. Through the opening slit, over the flat face of the cutter, but under the outer walls of the tool, and then finally through the twist/tightening rod, and get the top of the tool as tight to the locking head of your tie/zip as you canStep 4. Put the lever for the twisting/fighting rod in place and begin to turn it, so that the tail of the tie gets pulled into the toolStep 5. Once the tie/zip feels tight as need be, turn the other lever, to turn the half moon cutting wheel and twist until the tail cuts off and breaks free.Step 6. Remove tool from left over tail, and use crimp tool or bend excess out of the way, so that it doesn’t cut or poke a hole in your new boot or bellow. And that’s it!Not hard to use, but because of the shape, and the fact you have to turn levers, it can’t make it extremely awkward, if you trying to install an inner tie rod bellow or something like that, so again, just plan your route and access to where you want your zip/clamp to do its job.

The pliers are great and I was able to cinch down the clamps that was included in the OEM CV boot repair kit I bought separately. The included clamps in this bundle are junk, very light duty and snapped when I tightened them hence the 3 star review.

The tool feels sturdy and strong by the hold. It will do the job required.
