With solid, one-piece construction, each forged ball mount is designed to surpass other 2" options to accommodate the added stress of heavy-duty towing. This ball mount is exactly what others have said. It's a beefy stout forged mount, and for the cost it's a great value. As for rusting, I'll never know because I painted it straight away. Problem solved. It is a sloppy fit however like others have said. I have a mig welder so I added little "pimple" welds on the bar and ground them down until the mount could slide in the receiver with a snug fit. Another easy fix in my case. I'm sure an anti-rattle bracket would solve the fitment issue too.

I really like this hitch. It's extremely sturdy and pretty much bullet proof. I use it to pull my 1000 gallon liquid fertilizer trailer.

This is a chunk of steel that does a great job. Made to pull a lot of weight without breaking. I purchased to pull my 14k dump trailer. Works like a charm!

I am driving a 5.0 V8 F150 and towing a 6000lb off-road trailer. The Curt forged mount is beyond capable for the task. I can drive with confidence while towing my trailer.

Heavy duty and robust ! 1” thick at ball attachment point. Ensure you get a ball with a minimum of 2 1/4 inch threaded shank (I used a ball with 2 1/2” shank) to ensure that the lock washer and nut fully seat.

We purchase many Curt 17K lb mounts and 15K balls. Usually we buy them already assembled as there has been a great deal on the set including a pin. We have discovered in our fleet that employees don't always realized that lower level ball and mount sets are not rated for the loads they are hauling. We do not give out hollow thin walled mounts, we only use these and we have a large fleet. This way if someone grabs one for a larger than normal haul, they aren't grabbing an under rated set-up. Curt is using a better label now that sticks better. Very solid and heavy.

I have an F150 that is rated for just north of 12,000 lbs tow weight and I use a decent 2" stainless trailer ball that is rated for 10,000 lbs so this is clearly the strong link in the system. solid steel will take the bending moment at the hitch and at the ball mount locations better making it much less likely to bend as I have seen in lessor mounts. Forging also allows for the use of stiffer steel and the elimination of some of the stress concentrators associated with welding, you will notice that this hitch has a nicer shape to it than usual. Also, it is powder coated to help minimize the rust. Just finished pulling an 8000 lb load through a lot of rain, ice, and salt for a few days. Roads were brutal. Was towing a car on a trailer. Hold downs required the car to be mounted forward on the trailer and car was a FWD which didn't help, created excessive tongue weight. So the hitch mount got a real work out. Hitch mount was plenty messy when I removed from my truck. Brushed it off, wiped it off, looks new - not a speck of rust which I would have certainly have had in a lessor product. This is one that will last a lifetime, so if you are spending a few extra bucks, in the along run, you will not notice it. One more thing, I had ordered a stainless hitch pin that did not come in on time so I used a garden variety hitch pin that had a lite coating of some kind, perhaps galvanizing - it rusted in the areas that saw the most stress. So good job CURT, you are building a really nice product! One last thing, I ordered this mount, the trailer ball and a clock movement from Amazon at about the same time. Amazon put them all in the same box. When I saw that on the shipping notice I thought that the clock movement would be just destroyed. But Amazon pulled it off. Good job packing, everything came through just fine. So good job Amazon!
