This was a great kit. It came with everything needed to complete the project with extra yarn leftover. It turned out exactly like the picture. Great quality materials and easy to use directions.

I ordered the Stitch and Angel set. I was loving it up until I ran out of yarn halfway through her second ear. Kind of disappointing :(

The instructions are not beginner friendly and definitely not for a child.

I am having an absolute BALL with this crochet kit. I first learned to crochet like 7 or 8 years ago, and for the longest only ever attempted to make granny square projects. It wasn't until last spring or so that I challenged myself with my first amiguri and clothing item, using a non granny square pattern, and learning a bunch of new stitches in the process. I no longer consider myself to be a "beginner", but am firmly somewhere in the "intermediate" territory. What I like about this kit is that it is well stocked for the project. Since its marketed towards beginners, its reasonable to assume that a true beginner won't have the necessary materials and doo-dads like stitch markers, weaving needles, etc. Having the correct gauge crochet needle, all the yarns in "a little more than what you need" amounts, all the accessories like felt, safety eyes with backers, as well as detailed instructions is so helpful! I have all of those things in my collection, but even I appreciate having everything I need for my little project tucked in a convenient and sturdy cardboard box. It makes it super easy to tote around and work on too!The only qualm I have right now is that the yarn wouldn't necessary be what I consider "beginner friendly". It's a good weight for amiguri projects, but tends to pull and rip sometimes. May just be my tension as I tend to hold my yarn tight and create really tight stitches, but I anticipate that could be a frustration for someone who is new to crocheting. It is usually recommended to start with a large, thicker yarn. That being said, my project is working up nicely. I appreciate the small projects like this, especially while I'm working on a more time consuming project like the afghan I'm currently working on. Sometimes, I need that quick feeling of success and completion that finishing a project gives me. A kit like this I can finish within a week, or a few days if I really sit and commit to it in my free time. I enjoy finding these kits that represent some of my kids favorite characters. They know I'm working on them and get excited as they see them come together. I do recommend this particular kit, and I expect the others are just as nice and well curated. I actually have a few others on the way! I will make sure to snap a photo of my finished "Marshall" dog when he gets finished in the next few days!Oh yeah, I forgot to mentioned that they kit even includes stuffing to stuff your amiguri with! Everything is in the perfect portion, and its a good deal considering you'd spend much more purchasing larger quantities of all items. Instead of doing that, you get a complete kit with a pattern, all materials, instructions and functional carboard box to store ytou wokr and materials in while you work on it!I highly suggest this affordable brand of crochet kits. If you are a true beginner, just be prepared to give it some effort and be willing to take time to work slowly until you get the hang of some of the stitches. The stitches in this particular prject are pretty small for a beginner, but VISIBLE, and they give you a small breakdown of the abbreviated stitches in the beginning of the instructions. I am a visual person who learns well by watching other DO, and sometimes taught myself how to do things like make a "magic ring" or certain stitches by youtubing a few search terms. Good luck and HAVE FUN! These would make a great gift! I actually got one for a good friend who is interested in learning to crochet! I found a koala kit from this brand and gifted it to her for Christmas! An economical way to explore crocheting, and amiguri (animal/character crochet projects) without investing in large amounts of the materials you need.

This is a Christmas gift so she hasn’t received it from me yet but I know she will be excited to receive it because she loves the character and loves crafting.

She’s really cute! I forgot that I didn’t want to do anymore black yarn crochet projects (because it’s hard to see stitches and count them), but it actually wasn’t too bad. It still was harder to count the stitches in the black yarn opposed to the white yarn, though. There is some shaping so you will need to be able to count stitches very well. It would be a good third or fourth crochet project. I really like my Kuromi :)Stitches/Difficulty:3-picot *****BLOChain StitchCrochet in the RoundDouble Crochet ***Flat CrochetMagic RingSingle CrochetSingle Crochet DecreaseSingle Crochet IncreaseSlip StitchTreble Crochet ****Most Rounds in a Part: 30Most Stitches in a Row: 42It does have a lot of stitches to learn. Picots were really hard for me the first time I tried them. It does use flat crochet techniques for the tail and that was really hard the first time I had to try that, too. It probably would be better as a third or fourth crochet project because there is just so much to learn to do it if you’ve never crocheted before. It was easy for me, but this was my one hundred and eighth crochet project and I’ve been crocheting for almost a year a half now :)>>Tip: For picot stitches, it helps if you turn the piece so the loops are on top and hold the bottoms of the stitches really tightly. It’s easier for me to pull through when I do that :)Instructions:The instructions in the pattern booklet were really clear. I had no issues. The abbreviations and notation format are the same as most of the other kits on Amazon. There is also a separate crochet instruction booklet that shows how to do with the stitches and explains the concepts necessary to finish the project. It’s illustrated with photos and some diagrams. I didn’t watch the videos but I want to you to know that you will need a QR code reader (like “camera” on an iPad) to watch the videos as there are no printed URLs to type in.Materials:The yarn is really soft (the black is a lot softer than the white for some reason) :) I really like that they included real yarn instead of jersey knit tube yarn. You can go so much faster with real yarn and it doesn’t hurt my wrists even when I crochet for a long time. The 3.0mm hook they included is a slower one for beginners. I used it for a bit and then switched to my own hook, which I’m more used to. The stitch markers worked well. I had no issues with them. I didn’t use the glue stick (you can use it with a lighter if you don’t have a glue gun). The tapestry needles are too sharp and they keep going through the yarn instead of in between the stitches. The eyes of the needles are also a bit small for the yarn. I used my own tapestry needle. The sewing needle was too thick and wouldn’t really work with the pom pom so I had to go find a real sewing needle to sew the pom poms on with. What I Did Different:I added a row or two to the black hat and made it so I could tie it on so I could take it off…then maybe someday I could make a My Melody hood and change it or whenever :) I also made the collar a tie on piece. I used my own safety doll eyes because I didn’t feel like embroidering eyes. I made my own tail because the tail was too thick looking. I still made the tail the instructions told me to, though (see photo). I used my own safety doll eyes. I think she looks really cute with them :)
