When I’m diving I’m pushing my limits so when I come back up I need to have confidence my slorkel won’t leave me taking a deep breath of water, this one is good but tends to do that

Really good snorkel. Comfortable in the mouth and connected effortlessly to a Cressi mask. This, and the mask bought, was a huge upgrade to what the holiday water sport companies use.I bought the matching mask, only because of the price, as would have happily colour clashed to swim the tropical fish.

I want to share my impressions and compare different models of Cressi snorkels: Supernova Dry, Alpha Ultra Dry, Itaca Ultra Dry and Cressi Tao. They have very difference prices for no apparent reason as these snorkels are nearly identical.Let’s start from the top. The top valve of the Supernova is little different when compared to the Alpha and Itaca, but the idea is the same - a small plastic with air inside floats up and a flat silicon piece closes the opening on the top of the tube when you are under the water. The Tao does not have this valve and just has a guard preventing from ways to splash into the tube. Supernova valve is harder to clean as while you can remove the top off the tube, one cannot disassemble it further. The Alpha and Itaca valves are identical. All three snorkel valves are prone to stuck in closed position when surfacing and will require a strong exhalation to open the valve before you can inhale. This can be a problem to some folks. The Alpha and Itaca valves can be disassemble - you can remove the guard and get access to the silicon and top of the tube to clean it.The plastic AND the flexible silicon tube below valve on the top is identical in all four snorkels, the same oval design, same diameter, same length. The mouth piece is identical on all of the snorkels. The blow out valve is exactly the same on all of the snorkels. It is directed further downward on Alpha and more forward on the rest of the tubes. The Supernova and Tao do not have any cover over the valve. The Alpha has little openings that are easily clogged with sand and difficult to clean. The Itaca has large openings with plastic bands on top and is easier to clean. In the summary all of the snorkels are identical (besides model names) with very small changes as described. There no reason in my mind to spend almost twice as much money on Itaca when comparing it to Alpha as they are one and the same. Alpha top valve design is probably better than the Supernova as it can be easily opened and cleaned.

The design is outstanding. The semi-dry feature prevents water from easily entering the snorkel while on the surface, which is fantastic. No more unexpected gulps of water ruining my snorkeling adventures! The valve system works flawlessly, and I was amazed at how effective it was in keeping water out.

Strong and overwhelming plastic odor. Felt like I was inhaling plastic particles. Will discontinue use.

I snorkel a lot and I really like this snorkel, don't get one of the stupid ball valve versions, this is so much better.

I sustained a severe back injury 4 years ago with residual pain. I learnt how to swim recently and the only stroke I could do well was the front crawl. I read online that doing front crawl can cause pain if you have an underlying condition, many people recommended using a snorkel. Despite all physio I have weakness in lower back and legs and struggled with getting a good kick. Now how is this relevant?Well, this snorkel is AAmmmaaazing. I am able to focus on my kicks and positioning of my arms without having to worry about my breathing. I can really feel my legs and back working too now. My kicks are long and smooth, from my hips rather than my knees. Before when I was coming up for air, my legs flailed and I couldn't get a rhythm going. With this, i swim continuously without having to hyperextend my lower back. So this has helped with my technique as well as confidence. As a new swimmer, I looked at a lot of products before choosing this one. Firstly its Cressi, I have other products made by them and they have never failed to deliver. This is easy to use, readily clipped on to my swim goggles and the mouthpiece is comfortable. Be sure to use it on the left side of your mouth its designed that way historically. At no time did I have any issues with water coming in - I completed 50 laps. So it's greatI use a nose clip when swimming also. I find it helps too.I used standard swim goggles not snorkelling ones and when using this the first time water entered after a couple of laps. Today I tightened the straps both sides (on my goggles) and have not had a problem since. I did think that swimming in the pool with this on would earn me a few weird stares but no one really cares. When used with fins this will give you a good workout.Recommend this product. It's affordable and reliable.
