One of those is that direct mounting of SSDs in most desktop computer cases is not possible due to lack of dedicated 2.5" drive bays. Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket is a perfect solution to this problem. It is an adapter specially designed to securely mount up to two 2.5" SSDs into existing standard 3.5" hard-drive bay. It fits any desktop computer case with at least one standard 3.5” hard-drive bay available. The installation is straight-forward, which makes for the hassle-free transition to SSD.

This worked great. I had only 1 SSD to install and it went without a hitch. One minor thing I found was that the SATA cable had to make an awkward bend to reach its socket. All in all, not a problem. Suggestion: if you install only 1 SSD, screw in the extra 4 screws into the adapter so you don’t lose them. All the screws fit perfectly, but the ones for mounting the SSD are very tiny and can get frustrating in installing them. Also, the adapter fit perfectly into the large HD slot and the screws fit perfectly. The adapter is made of plastic so if it doesn’t seem to fit, don’t force it or you’ll likely break the adapter. All in all, it worked really well for me so I give it 5 stars!

I would have liked to have the option to put the SSD further back to make it easier to put the cover back on (The power and SATA connections are a little bulky) but I'm in the process of consolidating and tying up the cables. When I'm done, all will be well (the job is well overdue). The mounting bracket allows for greater drive density which gives me room for 6 SSDs if need be (there are six SATA connections on the MSI motherboard). Power connectors can be split and converted to SSD power connectors. A mirrored drive might be a good option here for the more important data. SSDs generate very little heat compared to physical drives.I have removed all mechanical drives because there is another slot for a drive on the top of the case which I really like because the drives just plug in and are connected internally - very handy, especially for backups and heat reduction inside the case. Easy to add and remove SATA drives of any kind.I did order another mounting bracket so that I have plenty of room for more SSDs. There are 5 drive slots in this case, 6 if you remove the CD/DVD drive. I have a 500 GB SSD for OS 10/11 and a 1 TB SSD for data, like photos from the hi-res iPhone cameras in the 15 Pro and music files. The bracket is metal rather than the plastic bracket that came with the case. I've had the case for over 10 years. Easy to change the motherboard and processor when the time comes. Easy to manage many SSD drives, especially with this double mounting bracket which is reasonably priced.I also have a 128 GB SSD for storing documents and smaller file types. I like to remove what data I can from the OS drive so it doesn't keep growing in size over time (Documents, pictures, music etc). SSDs have come down in price quite significantly and make it feasible to go completely SSD (have a backup schedule), which eliminates the need for heat-generating and bulky mechanical drives that can always be connected to the connection on top of the cabinet where heat is not an issue. I have a 1TB backup mechanical drive up there. The cabinet can accommodate four large fans which cools the processor down nicely without going to water cooling (6-core AMD). The cabinet is quite large and roomy inside and replacing drives is a breeze.

This is a well built item, feels solid, and can hold two 2.5" drives. It comes with mounting screws for your drives as well. For this part of the review, imagine the drive you want to mount is sitting on a table horizontally in front of you, one of the broad sides down on the table. If you look at the area where you connect cables, you will notice that connector is either on top (facing upward), or on the bottom (facing downward). It is important to note that the mounted orientation of drives in this bracket is with the pins facing downward in the bracket (otherwise the screws can't align through the bracket into the drive). The main way this can be a challenge is if your power/data cables come into the drive mounting area from above, you may have to put additional stress on your wires bending them to fit, attempt to re-route them through your case so they come in from underneath, or you may have to use a different wire set designed to come in from below. I wish there was a way to allow a more universal mount, so purchasers can mount their drives in the bracket with the pin orientation either (or both) up/up, down/down, or one up/one down. But in the end this bracket does what I needed it to do, which is to mount an SSD in my computer and provides room for an additional drive in the future, if needed. It works as designed, and not everyone will encounter this challenge...so it gets a 5-star from me.

This bracket cleans up a case and has been on my to-do list for years. My desktop (HP Elite pre-built mini tower) has had my two SSDs dangling in place because of no easy way to mount them, and historically it's been hard to find a 2.5 > 3.5 adapter in Canada on Amazon that wasn't insanely priced.I'm not sure about the reviews saying it doesn't work in some OEM cases because this used the original, spare quick mount screws that came in my case for mounting an extra 3.5" drive. It clicks into place and is very secure. Two issues: as someone else mentioned, it's quite tedious mounting the lower SSD in the bracket. You need a magnetized screw driver (or a screwdriver with a really strong fridge magnet attached) to get the SSD mount screws (included) started in their threads. Not a deal breaker but it took me probably 5 minutes of somewhat infurating time to get things lined up properly and mounted inside the bracket (it should have been 30 seconds). The second issue is that you may need different SATA and/or power cables to make the two-drive-in-one solution work in your case. I had to swap around my right angle and straight plug cables to get them to not interfere with each other, as well as closing the case without a lot of pressure on the cables. Luckily the bracket allows you to move the drives back and forth inside the bracket by about half an inch due to the oval shaped mount points, which some of the cheaper ones don't.
