It took a while to fully charge, but it lasted long enough (about 20 mins) for me to swap tips and make a few trial-and-error adjustments while soldering a surface mount component back onto a PCB. I didn’t use the solder or flux that came with the kit, but overall, it was definitely worth $9.99!

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! the iron itself is straight trash, and their customer service is even worse. Unless you only plan to solder maybe like one or two pins, just skip this one. Battery life is maybe 5 minutes tops. Also the solder that it comes with is total garbage. I knew it wouldn’t be that great considering the price but I liked the fact that it’s cordless. My BIGGEST complaint about this is that you can’t use it while it’s plugged in. I mean, you CAN use it but it doesn’t charge while it’s on, so it doesn’t even double as a corded iron.Update: so “customer service” reached out to me to ask the problem, and they were rude, condescending, and just a total smart ass. He acted like I was an idiot. He asked if I was using it on the highest setting and I said well, it doesn’t melt solder on the second setting. He said quote “there isn’t a soldering iron on the market that can melt solder in a second. Since that’s your complaint then we can’t help you sorry” . I was like that’s not at all what I said, I said the 2nd setting doesn’t melt solder. I also told him that just because you say your product works great doesn’t mean that the one I received isn’t faulty. They never responded back.

It’s a bit of a pain to use. The thing gets super hot but ones the tip gets a lot of solder on it it starts losing its effectiveness. The solder it comes with is a thin gauge and I had a hard time using it. Some may be user error but I’ve used other soldering irons with wedge style tips and wider heads and have had better results.

This is one of the best soldering pins I've ever used. It works fantastic and is very easy to use. I will be recommending it to all my friends and family. I think I'll be buying another one as well.

All in all it works well. Charged fast and heats up quick. However the battery is short lived. If you need it for a quick repair this is handy but if you’re doing long work find something with a larger battery or plug in. 3 stars because of the battery life. If you’re using it on high you’ll get maybe 10 minutes tops.

This solder pen doesn't last long. It's good for a few connections. A lot more can be accomplished by prepping wires, connections, boards, etc ahead of turning the pen ON. I did not test it but suspect that the hotter the setting, the quicker the battery is consumed so checking what the lowest setting can be used is also likely to lead to a longer working time. Charging seems to take a long time... probably because of wanting to continue working. For handling this pen is excellent. The heat options allow for flexibility to accommodate what's being worked on. I'm using it to solder 18 and 22 awg wiring and connections with low heat solder paste. Pen and tips have a quality look to them. The storage case/shell is sturdy plastic. The inside carrier is thin plastic. Can't comment on the solder and rosin included as I'm not using them. I got this to compare it to the butane pens and 110v guns I have. All those are high heat and I have had problems melting parts with them. This pen solved that issue. But the fact that the charge runs out sooner than is functional for the type of work I do... not pleased with that. For what it does, it's good.

I'm not sure if maybe the people who wrote negative reviews didn't know what to expect out of this less than $10 soldering iron, or maybe they just got a lemon, but I used mine today for the first time, and i couldn't be happier. HERE'S the thing. I would suggest that you toss the garbage solder and flux that that is included with this iron. It's complete trash. If you have some other solder, use that. I couldn't even melt the solder that came with teh set but when I used my own solder, it worked like a champ. This thing heats up super fast, it gets more than hot enough. I personally used it to replace the batteries in four of my RC helicopters that had been in storage for a few years. I used it on the lowest heat setting to remove the old battery wires from the circuit boards and solder the new ones to it. It heats up in about 15 seconds before you can start soldering. This is the best $8I have ever spent. It's great for small repairs in the field thanks to it being cordless. You can even charge it with your phone charger in your car if it has a USB A or B port.To summarize, this thing worked great for me. Don't forget to tin the tip before first use.So open it up. Charge it, and throw out the included flux and solder.Make sure the tip you use clicks into place.
