This iron is good, but the tip burned out after 1.5 hours of use. I contacted Weller and they suggested replacing the tip... which would have cost more than this iron. FWIW, I have been using a Weller 100WP for several decades (for stained glass) until it gave up the ghost a week ago. Now I'm searching for a viable replacement. Unfortunately, only because of the junk tip, this was not it :(

This iron doesn’t maintain its heat. Turns off intermittently. Don’t buy this Weller iron. Missed my return date by 12 hours. Waste of my money!! 🤬

Have the long chisel on, and chunks are coming off it. This did not happen with the small chisel end. Very disappointed.

More special tips should included and a heavier holder would be nice, or at least options to equip it.

This iron is so hot it laughs at 12-10 gauge wire. You can use for attaching connectors but you HAVE to be quick or it will melt the connector housing. Tip oxidizes fast due to heat so make sure you always have a sponge to wipe and keep it tinned for best performance. I love this iron especially for the price just wish it had an on off switch and a better stand/holder. Worth buying if you are constantly soldering as it really speeds things up. I would recommend for any rc hobbyist and the household electrician.

It took me awhile to fi d the solder that I needed but when I found it this soldering iron melted it fine and I got the job done.

I used this iron to solder guitar pickup covers back on. I previously had purchased a 40W iron, but that was not nearly hot enough. Using a regular soldering iron, the base of the pickup as a heat sink, so it soaks up the heat, and doesn't allow the solder to become hot enough to spread properly on the base, so you need something much hotter. This 80 W iron did the job easily.This iron heated up the area very quickly, which was safer for the windings, I was able to apply a generous portion of solder, problem solved, marriage saved.
