VERY sticky and hard to clean, everything sticks to it. No instructions came with it, which side is down? Or does it matter? Some weird round stickers came with it, but again, no instructions on what they were for. The only advantage is I feel my glass induction cooktop is more protected when I use my cast iron.

This mat looks good and conducts beautifully on my induction cooktop. It cleans up to new condition with no more than a damp cloth or sponge. After less than a year of light use (my instantpot is the kitchen workhorse), the thin coating on the mat began to peel off. It still works fine and cleans up easily, but the peeling sections are gradually getting bigger and more noticeable. I'm going to replace it with another that I hope will be more durable.

I tried several induction cooktop covers. This one seems to be perfect so far. I’ve had it for 4 weeks.1. Translucent so you can see the Burnett pads and controls through it.2. Controls touch controls work through the cover.3. While there is some type of woven fiber matrix embedded in the silicone, both sides are smooth and a mite tacky. No skid either on the glass top or with pans on the surface.4. Looks great. The other type of raku cover I tried came folded in a heat shrink plastic film. This left deep creases that did not flatten out AND the very thin silicone delaminated from the fiberglass matrix at the creases making it tattered looking. I retuned that one.5. Thus far, 4 weeks out, no issues with sticking to or melting onto the glass top as one review said.6. Induction cooking works great. Cover is pliable, less than 2mm thick, and induction sound whilst cooking is the same as without the cover directly on the glass.I had tried a 3mm thick counter top silicone sheet that was mostly transparent. I the look and the induction buzzed quite significantly when cooking. That one was returned.7. Both sides are tacky. Brushing crumbs off not so easy. A damp sponge or paper towel work best. Mfgr says it can be put in dishwasher. Haven’t tried that yet. It’s a mite big to fit into the dishwasher…

I had bought a similar mat for a family summer home, so I knew already how well this worked! I can work on the cooktop when I'm cooking, and not get it dirty or scratched.

This is the second mat purchased & the first mat bubbled & peeled about two weeks after return window closed. Second mat four months and is peeling. Of course after return window has closed.

It makes perfect sense that a silicone mat is a good solution to protecting a glass cooktop once the surface temperature is tolerable for the material. The silicone says in place well and keeps the pans from sliding. It also makes the surface a perfect place to set glass pans or baking stones from the oven without worry about scratching the glass. I used a modeling knife to carefully cut out the controls area on the cooktop, and it looks great. The best part is that is prevents the need to clean the glass. You can wipe down the mat in place (microfiber seems to grip too much, so try cotton or a sponge) or pick it up to wash down in the sink. I recommend for anyone deciding to purchase an induction cooktop.

This product worked well for the first few weeks, and I used the same exact cookware the entire time, but one day after cooking I removed my cookware for clean up and noticed part of the mat melted . I’m not sure what caused this but I am disappointed that it does not in fact last. Maybe over time it just wears down?? Not worth the money.
