A couple months in and they are holding up pretty well. I have used these to drill multiple holes through sheet steel and other thin surfaces. The bits drill well and cut cleanly. Some of the coating is starting to wear off however the markings are still visible. Probably not the best for continuous heavy duty usage. The case is nice for keeping things organized and is about as good as you can expect given the pricing.

I was able to drill through a thin sheet of steel that my regular drill bit failed to get thru. Very impressive!

I bought this for basic EV plug installations. I just needed an affordable step bit to just be able to make a legitimate hole inside an electrical panel or tesla wall connector housing. I use this with a milwaukee fuel hammer drill and I have zero issues. Keep in mind if you put too much stress on the step bit, the chuck may not unwind. Use common sense and safety and this product should give you your moneys worth.

The 5-piece step drill bit set appears promising for my upcoming project of installing solar panels on my RV roof. The bits themselves look sturdy and well-made, giving the impression that they will work effectively for drilling through various materials. Their design suggests versatility, which is crucial for a project like mine that involves multiple layers.However, the packaging left much to be desired. It was among the cheapest and flimsiest I've encountered, and frankly, it felt like utter garbage. Despite this, considering the main purpose is the performance of the drill bits, the subpar packaging may not be a deal-breaker. As long as the bits deliver on their functionality, I can overlook the packaging's shortcomings. Time will tell how well they perform, but initial impressions indicate they should serve their purpose for the intended solar panel installation on my RV roof.

If you know drill bit materials and metal hardness, this set is fair for the home user as is.This set is intended for mild steel up to quarter inch, various compressed wood, plastics, and aluminum (not alloy).For the home user this set will do as it will not likely be used vigorously nor in a production environment. That being said, it is okay and well worth the asking price so long as you treat it with respect.Respect = keep them stored in their original box, do not use for cutting high carbon steel like stainless, or hardened steel like bed frame / spring steel.The bottom line, this set sells for the price of one low end name brand step drill bit. Keep that in mind or you may destroy them on the first use. Mild non-ferrous steel can be cut with these at or about 1K rpm preferably on a drill press but not mandatory. If you need more speed the project material is not non-ferrous mild steel.
