This little set of Step Drill Bits just saved me hundreds of dollars! I am an experienced carpenter with very little metal cutting experience. But I needed to make a few precise thin metal supports to repair my car bumper.My bumper had come loose and some of the round connection holes had broken. I got an .016" x 1/2" brass strip, slipped it under the broken round connection, then marked the brass strip with an indelible marker. To cut the precise hole needed in the brass strip, I carefully started with the smallest step drill bit moving up to larger ones as needed. It took a bit of practice, but I was able to make a perfect metal reinforcements for the high density plastic bumper. I glued the metal reinforcements onto the bottom of the broken plastic bumper hole, then gave the epoxy 24 hours to set. The bumper went back on my car the next day with no problems at all. These step drill bits were perfect for precise thin metal cutting.

The bits are sharp and cut well, and are excellent for plastic or aluminium. Be sure that what you are drilling is not thicker than the step, and everything will go smoothly. While I suspect they might cut through thin gauge steel, I'm not sure they'd hold up well in that application, but when used for their intended purpose, they do a good job, and should be serviceable for many uses. The range of sizes is excellent. Only time will tell how durable they are, hence 4 stars.

These step bits are a decent buy for occasional use. I don't believe they are the top of the line but for the price, they offer a good variety of sizes, the punch tool is a nice touch. It also comes in a nice case that holds the bits very well.

these are awesome, i haven't used them yet but was impressed by the packaging. The manufacturer is proud of these! and they arrived in an aluminum case with fitted foam so they will stay sharp. won't be tossed around loose in a toolbox or a tool bag, where the cutting edge can be dulled or dinged by banging around on other drill bits or tools. even the centerpunch has a secure place for it. So no more searching for stuff it's all together in 1 handy place, and protected ((I will update on the quality of these bits after I use them for a while)

These step bits came nice and sharp and they do their job pretty well I was able to drill through some annealed high carbon steel pretty easily . I think between the amount of bits and the center punch thats included make this is a solid value .

This is one of those for the price of one (or less) you get four different sizes, a loaded center punch and a decent case.The center punch is a little cheap feeling and doesn’t offer any adjustments like my other but it’s nice to have right in the case with the drills. Only time will tell how useful these will be. I hadn’t considered the depth issue when using these. You really can only drill if it’s a shallow hole otherwise you’ll be going up to the next size.Overall a quality product with a lot of options and the larger size is almost like a set of holes saws for thin materials.
