Really nice brushes. I use them for painting ceramics. Lovely fine points yet hold a lot of glaze. Don't know how long they will hold up and keep their points, but so far very pleased. Would buy them again.

I have been wanting to buy these brushes for awhile and I am so glad I did! I use them for watercolor painting. They are very well shaped and the tips allow the finest of lines. I tried them first on a small watercolor sketch of evergreen trees and was very happy at the way they allowed me to paint the most delicate needles on the trees. Yet the wider part of the brush can make heavy, well-shaped lines and curves. I highly recommend these brushes! They are well worth the cost.

These feel very nice. I'm not that good at calligraphy but it's something that's really nice to work on every so often and these are a really lovely set in general. I've also been using them for non calligraphy things and general art and they have a nice feel to them. They also give a good range of brushstrokes. Practice makes perfect and I'm glad to have a nice set of tools to practice with. Would recommend giving these a try

This package arrived in a timely manner (my review just isn’t timely….) and it was gorgeous! My order had one fairly large calligraphy brush and they threw in a ceramic holder for the brush which is great for me because I tend to be a little messy. I am not a calligrapher; I use the ink and brush when making papers for collages. I write faux letters - or, as I like to refer to it: “artistic scribbling” and this brush is perfect for my needs. Will a professional Chinese calligrapher approve of the brush, I couldn’t possibly know. But the brush holds a lot of ink and makes beautiful marks. The packaging is almost worth the price of the brush because it is so lovely and ritzy looking! Enjoy your artistic scribbling!

This brush set (of three brushes) is nicely packaged and well protected for shipment. The brushes themselves arrive stiff, coated with sizing to protect them. I used dish soap in the palm of my hand and swirled the brush in this to wash the stiffening material off. It came off fairly easily, but I was concerned about using warm (much less hot) water, for fear of dissolving the glue holding the brush hairs in place.The brushes are three different sizes, but they are not very different from each other. A larger mop-style brush, as well as a smaller fine liner, would be useful additions to this set. A loop on end of the brush handle allows it to be hung to dry, so that it can dry with the tip down (which is always recommended to dry a brush that has just been cleaned).I have been using these brushes with both liquid calligraphy ink and ink made by grinding a solid ink stick in an inkstone, and they work equally well with both.The accompanying photograph shows the brushes, including the loop at the end of the brush, and some brushstrokes using the middle-sized brush.

I am certainly no expert, but these brushes look like they are designed for doing precise work and are quite beautiful. They are nicely presented in a custom box and a brush stand is included with the set. I am looking forward to experimenting with them. I haven't tried calligraphy work yet but I have the right paper and I'm ready to go. If I'm a disaster with calligraphy, I'll use them for watercolors. Either way, it's a lovely set.
