I bought 2 of these tip ups with very low expectations, but not low enough. This product is the epitome of cheap Chinese junk. Don't expect to be able to use it out of the package. On one the reel was screwed on so tight that no fish under 3 lbs would have been able to take line and the trigger needed some serious adjustment with a pair of pliers. The other one was assembled so poorly that it doesn't open all the way causing the vertical piece to lean over closer to 60 degrees instead of the preferred 90 degrees. I'll need to disassemble it and drill a new hole for the bolt and wing nut. The product description says it made with hard wood- that's not true...it's made from ripped down pine (or maybe birch) plywood. I bought these as backups and I hope I never have to use them. Will probably just use the reels and flags to make new tip ups and throw away the rest. I dont pay attention to 1 star reviews but these really are that bad

I know it’s cheap...but it’s real cheap. The wood splinters, the reel is barely on. Does get the job done though.I feel like this would be a “last ditch effort to catch food in a survival situation” tool.
