Perfect for our small cat, we installed a 1” thick styrofoam insulation into the open window, then cut the hole to size and installed cat door into that. Easiest install, we did have to epoxy the door frame to the insulation because of how we decided to do it so it’s perm, but for the price keeps the house warm and with some treats/encouragement kitty loves the freedom. Door works great with a wee magnet to keep it closed. Had to prop and show how but she got it. Going to paint it out to make it pretty.

We absolutely love this cat door. We placed it on our garage door for our cats to come and go to get out of the weather. Love that you can change the lock settings, to allow in but not back out, out but not in etc! For the price this is a no brainer! Install was super easy after watching the how to video. Got it in without complications. Cats caught on pretty quickly as well and love the independence factor. No more waiting for lazy mom to open the door!Only downside is that it is in fact super easy to figure out. We get the occasional stray cat locked in so you do have to be mindful of that if you get rodents or strays that get curious.

Nice door for the price. I used the included screws to mount each side to the respective side of the door. They are plenty tough to hold the plastic frame in place. This is my 2nd pet door install. The first was mounted on an interior wood door, and I used a jigsaw to cut the hole. I considered a jigsaw for this install, but after doing some reading, I decided to try my angle grinder with a 1/16" thick cut off wheel. I used the outside facing frame of the pet door as a template (the part of the frame intended to fit through the door). I traced it with pencil, and went back over with a sharpie. I cut on the outside edge to leave some wiggle room. The outside frame will cover quite a bit of over cut area. The trick was the thin cut off wheel. Once through the steel, it cut very easily through the steel, and it was easy to hold a straight line without any guide. I did pre-drill the four corners of my tracing, just as a guide. You cut one side of the door at a time. Use the drilled holes as your guide for tracing the other side of the door after cutting the first side. It's easy to remove more material with the grinding wheel if you need to take a little more off for the frame to slide through. I'm going to link the 1/16" cut-off wheels I purchased through Amazon. The cut-off wheel performed great. Definitely pop the pins out of the hinges and put your door on sawhorses. I used a face shield instead of safety goggles (face shield doesn't fog up). You can wear glasses under a face shield too. The cutting of the hole is the trickiest part for sure. I used a punch to start the holes for the 8 screws that hold the frame on (4 on each side). Pre-drilled the holes with a small bit. Hand tightened the screws (so not to crack the frame). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQR19NRK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

This was the only cat flap-door that was close to the size hole already cut in my cats' feeding-house so decided to take a chance because the vinyl freezer-strip I had ordered and put in during a warm spell between freezing weather had not preformed as advertised by seller. Thankfully they came during a nice Spring-like time and got them installed. I had to enlarge both openings slightly but not unexpected. the front sections were fairly easy to install, but I did have to remove half of the weather-brush strip on each door so they would swing a bit easier and not be too difficult for the cats to figure out how to use them Because the inside of the converted Rubber Maid storage container is not smooth I did not try to use the inner frame portion due to it being bigger opening diameter (designed to fit over the outer doors opening "lip". By the end of the day all of the cats had used the new doors although with a little trial-n-error. We are now getting a snow storm with drifting snow so I checked the doors after shoveling the deep snow away although neither door was covered by the drift. One cat; the most timid one, did not get through the door but rather waited for me to give her food, but so far the other cats have had no trouble using the doors. After installing the doors I removed the clear cling covering from the flap and tossed it away with the other refuse only to re-read the accompanying included and reading their cautions!! ATTENTION: please do not throw that clear cling covering away because they say to put it back on if the temperatures get below freezing to prevent the clear plastic door flap from breaking!! Guess I'll find out if that plastic flap will hold up :-( without the cling cover. The back cover section has two lines marking the depths one can cut down so it fits thinner doors but because the plastic is hard you would need to use either a skill saw or hacksaw but not sure how you would hold onto the frame piece while cutting because I think it's too brittle to use a vice to clamp it. Having another person hold it would be a big help. The bottom of the door flap has a weight in it to keep it hanging straight down as well as closed when a cat is not using it so a regular wind will not blow it open - make sure when you install the front door frame that you keep it LEVEL or the flap will not work!!!!
