Sounds great, nice full sound, larger than expected.Excellent for practice. Not as loud as $300 versions and screws are placed in a way that make them easy to hit, still not hard to play.

I bought this product for my 11 yo son to practice percussion as he is in beginning band. The first thing I noticed when I received the product was 2 of the 4 hard plastic clasps on the case would not shut. Period. No matter how hard I tried to push them. No way my 11 yo would have a chance. fortunately the other 2 on the side seem to be enough to hold it. This same issue was noted in other reviews, so I was not that surprised, but I had though maybe it would have been addressed, The other issue I noticed was that the rubber feet on the bottom of the bell kit had all fallen out. They are supposed to be screwed into the bottom, but it looks like they used screws that are not long enough and maybe only had 1 thread of engagement, if that. In terms of sound, most of the notes sound very good and pure, but a couple seemed muffled. The product will work just fine for practice, but it just seems like a few things, which could be easily fixed, have gone overlooked. If I was looking to buy again, I would probably find one with a stand and take the chance the quality was comparable.

I was really surprised at the quality of these bells, given the really reasonable price. It's very well made and sounds great. I expected to need to purchase new mallets like some people suggested, but my daughter was really happy with how they felt. She's a percussionist in her school's band, so I bought this for practice during the summer. Everything is nice and tight and sturdy. The only issue we had was the clasps on the case were hard to close, so she closed just one. The case is so sturdy that the other closed clasp is more than enough to secure it properly. I have a feeling her drum instructor will be very pleased.

This was a Christmas present for our 9 year old granddaughter. She loves it and plays it all the time. It's a fine, well made instrument with beautiful sound. It comes in a very durable case with two mallets... the mallets are made with medium hard rubber, so the sound is not very loud when using them (ok by me!). We also bought a set of Innovative Percussion F10 mallets that are harder and produce louder sound, but not as melodic. The whole family enjoys hearing this instrument.

I really like this unit. It's a great value. The sound and tuning is very good, but not great. For the money it is a great sound. In other words, you can get better Glockenspiels but they cost considerably more and I suspect for most people this one is most sufficient. I use mine in a band within live and studio performances where it is appropriate. I also enjoy the plastic hard case it comes in very much because I can easily take it out to the park, lake, etc, and play away under a tree of something. Why should guitarists have all the fun?My only complaint, which is minor, is the mallets it comes with are rather flimsy but it is forgivable because they put their production dollars into the glockenspiel, not the mallets. For about $10 here on Amazon you can get some very functional mallets that bring this awesome glockenspiel to life!Check out:http://www.amazon.com/Innovative-Percussion-Fundamental-F10-Mallets/dp/B000CDDWX2/ref=pd_sim_MI_2

I bought this for my budding 5 year old musician. She, along with anyone else who has stepped into our house, has been enthralled with our glockenspiel. The sound is great and the case is nice and sturdy. I would like to point out that the black tipped rubber mallets do leave marks on the white keys, but that doesn't bother us. Perfect addition to our musical instruments. Unique, fun, and beautiful sound.

These bells sound good. Included in the kit are two double-ended rubber mallets and the bells. The bells themselves are very thin (assume steel?), which isn't a problem for a beginner but these are not a replacement for a high quality bell kit. Suitable for practice and light use. Tone is good, but don't have the depth of sound that a higher quality kit would have. No stand included, but the hard case is a nice addition. Case is relatively thin plastic, but perfectly adequate.

I had the devil's own time trying to research this glockenspiel (which is, I am told, technically the correct name for this instrument). There are not many reviews of it out there and not much to go on. The CB Percussion is substantially cheaper than many of the alternatives, though, and so I decided to take a leap of faith. I am very pleased that I took the chance.I'm using this fellow for recording with my indie rock group. I couldn't say whether it would do for a school band, which seems to be the target audience for many bell kits. The sound is lovely, that sweet chiming noise that one would want a glockenspiel for. I like the double-sided mallets, one side seems to produce a more transient, sharp attack and the other side is softer, and better for playing when your housemates are asleep. I've recorded with it twice now, and it sits well in a mix and seems to be in tune with everything else.I'm glad I sprung for the one with the hard shell case, I actually leave it in the case at all times and just open the lid to play. The case is very sturdy and well worth the ten or fifteen dollar price difference from the version with the gig bag. This bell kit is actually a bit more attractive than it looks in the picture (or at least mine is)... the "white" bars are kind of a cream color and very pretty.Again, I can't speak for the needs of a band student or orchestral player but for an indie rock guy who doesn't need a stand or anything too complex, this is a wonderful object.
