Cleaning Basic Beat Instruments

Plastic and other wood-hard surface percussion instruments (i.e. rhythm sticks, resonator bells, woodblocks, etc.) may be cleaned with disinfecting wipes or sprays.

Building Your Classroom Curriculum

Your curriculum, along with your learning objectives and students’ abilities, will help you select the right balance of shakers, scrapers, metals, drums, and woods. Thirty cowbells playing the timeline for Ensemble I of the “World Music Drumming Curriculum” would be a bit much, but it would be perfect for a performance of “Click, Clack, Moo! Cows That Type!”

  • Stretch your budget by choosing instruments known for durability, quality, and sound
  • Do you need a tubano for every student? Maybe, but first make sure you have purchased a balanced variety of instruments and sounds.

Expert Perspective

The Basic Beat 12-Note Glockenspiel is fully compact inside its own hardshell case. A convenient magnetic staff board is on the inner case and aids in teaching musical notation, this is a tool for students beginning to read musical staff notation. ~Tereasa

i bought this for my daughter who was three y/o at the time. I scanned the xylophones on Amazon, and decided to purchase this one because it seemed to have the best reviews and it was reasonably priced.after opening it, i checked my Amazon account to verify what i had paid for it, because--although i'm not a professional musician--based on the immediately apparent build quality i thought they had shipped a more expensive version by mistake. For instance, it's quite heavy. This looks and plays more like an instrument for serious use by grown-ups. (in fact they shipped the correct one).the high-quality construction also, in this instance, makes it suitable for a very young child.needless to say, i would recommend this highly.

The sound quality is wonderful. This truly sounds like a real instrument rather than a child's toy. The carrying case is very nice also.

This is an excellent glockenspiel with beautiful tone! It definitely met our expectations. We are hoping to use it to train our young son to be able to sing the different notes. It comes in a very nice durable case also.

Purchased for our granddaughter's 2nd birthday and she loves it! The quality workmanship of this product will allow her to both enjoy it now and continue to enjoy it for years as she continues to develop her love of music. Her mother did a lot of research to find this item and we, as her grandparents, are so happy to see her enjoying it at her "beginner" level and know that she will continue to love it for many years. We love it too!

I am a musician with a 2 year old daughter. I bought her a xylophone at our local, overpriced kids store and was disappointed that the high C was not in tune with the rest of the notes. The thing cost $38 and wasn't even very good. So, I went on Amazon and found this Basic Beat BB12B. It arrived today. For a very similar price, I get a very nice instrument. I am so happy with the purchase. Highly recommended. Buy this instrument!

I'm not a music expert, but I thinkt this xylophone has a really nice sound, doesn't feel like a toy at all and is really pretty to look at. I also like that it came with its case for protection.

My soon to be 4 yr old son requested a xylophone and i am very happy with this purchase. The quality of the sound is excellent and it's an instrument the entire family will enjoy hearing and playing. Looks very professionial with the case and mallets. My husband asked - how much did this cost? Wasn't expensive at all and worth the money!
