It's about 3/16 inch thick, and catches the splatter. It's soft like felt. I wish it were bigger, but it's much better than cardboard or fiberglass. I would recommend this.

This is an affective piece of felt cloth that is truly fireproof. Tried it and fire didn't do a thing to it. Burned some papers on top of it and only ash left. Nothing happened to it and nothing penetrated or did anything to even the first layer as I had it folded in half. Definitely recommend! Only thing I noticed is lots of tiny tiny black thread like pieces on my hand after handling it.

I haven't had the opportunity to try these out yet but I am going to believe that they are actually fireproof to 1800 degrees and will work well for my needs. They came well packaged and nicely folded. They feel like felt and not like a fire blanket. I put them right in the shop as I was afraid I would find someone using them to cover up and watch tv with. I would get them again.

This fire blanket pleasantly surprised me, I'm accustomed to the itchy fiberglass type blankets that eventually become brittle and fall apart. This material is very pliable and hopefully lasts a long time.

I’ve always had welding blankets/shields that resemble a heavy canvas material, so when I saw these blankets are a light weight felt, I had to try them. I’m pleasantly surprised; they are truly light weight and working well to contain the sparks, spatter, flux chips, and arc flash from the rest of the shop. Nicely done!

These are great fireproof blankets that can be used in a variety of ways. They are lightweight and soft, easy to store. We'll be using them under our portable firepit.
