Great to have an emergency back up like this. Well made and the design is perfect for an emergency backup lighting source, or a heating source if you get stranded in your car….add a metal mug and set it on the top of the unit to heat water or food. Great product design. You’ll need to order the ‘100 hour’ candles separately but well worth the effort.

The concept behind this camping lantern is brilliant, combining practical lighting with innovative heating capabilities. Its three-candle design promises enhanced functionality for outdoor adventures, featuring a smart spring mechanism that automatically adjusts the candles as they burn. The thoughtful engineering extends to its versatility. Campers can use one to three candles simultaneously, and the glass chimney creates a windproof environment that maximizes light output. A particularly clever feature is the heat shield, which doubles as a platform for warming drinks while the lantern illuminates your space. For emergency preparedness, this lantern offers reliable lighting without depending on batteries or liquid fuel. The long shelf life of candles makes it an ideal backup for power outages, providing both light and warmth when needed.Unfortunately, both the original unit and its replacement arrived broken due to inadequate packaging - just flimsy plastic bags with no padding. This serious shipping oversight completely undermined what could have been an essential piece of camping gear, especially valuable for winter camping and managing tent condensation. While the design shows promise for car camping and emergency situations, the manufacturer needs to address their shipping practices before this product can be recommended. A well-protected version of this lantern could be a valuable addition to any outdoor kit, but currently, the risk of receiving damaged goods is too high.

Flimsy material, loose glass, and difficult to remove the base plate to load candles. Buy the much higher quality (though more expensive) ECO brand version.

Doesn't anyone work in quality control?I was going to get a UCO and I should have in retrospect. The base is stuck and so I can't even put in candles.I also can't remove and take out the glass because the handle prevents it, and I can't take off the handle unless I get wire snips and destroy it.Update: I was able to get the base removed by wedging it out with a pocket knife. Something is not quite right in the design as it gets stuck easily.Still I bought this for emergencies since I live in a rural area and if I am ever stranded in -30C waiting for a tow truck I can at least get some heat. It should do the trick.

I like the way it looks. Got it for emergency’s. It doesn’t come with any candle's.

Great little lantern overall, but what’s with the bonehead decision to slap the nearly impossible to remove sticker on this thing? Do we really need to know that it’s an emergency lantern which holds 3 candles that aren’t included forever? What are they saving, like half a cent per unit by using this low quality decal? If you buy this and don’t want the sticker, might as well add a non marring scraper and adhesive remover to your cart. The goof off brand I used also took off some of the paint, so the finish on that side is a little dull now.

We purchased this lamp as a part of our winter travel kit in Michigan, as a heat source in a disabled or snowed in vehicle. The directions to insert the candles direct the user to turn the bottom of the lamp counter-clockwise to remove it and then place the candles in the lamp. Sounds easy enough. Except the bottom would not turn: not counter-clockwise, not clockwise. However, I was able to remove the top of the lamp and with some difficulty insert the candles from the top. So it works as intended. It provides heat in a small space. But it doesn’t work the way the vendor’s directions say it should. We kept it because an occasion to use it will be rare. But if one is going to use it a lot and go through more than one set of candles, it will be a pain in the rear.
