PNP right out of the box - gave no setup (read: driver) hassles whatsoever. I first used this with OBS to test recording hilarious fighting from several PS4 and Dreamcast games. The overall performance was pretty smooth, NO LAG and the video output quality was great. I DO have the other ONE too and it costs 3 times more than this one, so value. Functionally they perform identical. *One caution - it gets warm, so I do not leave it plugged in when not in use. Can be a little bulky depending where and how you have it plugged in. I use it (mainly) with my Mini PC far side USB 3.0 jack but if I switch to my laptop I have to be more 'creative'. Other than that, I think this is a reliable capture device and I can definitely recommend.

If you've done any research at all you'll know that this somewhat of a knockoff of a name brand product. Often that would turn me away but I think this one is worth consideration. Once you get past the slightly dishonest "4k" claim(no on cares what the max input is, only what it can output to the PC) I think it's a reasonable option in a lot of cases. Unless you really need the full 4k I think the 2k this can provide is a great value relatively. And yes it does do fine at resolutions around 2k. I've been using it with an older generation game console fed into OBS and it works perfectly. I did have trouble with the first USB port I tried it in but switching ports had it working immediately then showing up in OBS. Audio comes through perfectly as well. I'm all for getting the max performance but once you start looking at the name brand options you can quickly start asking yourself if it's worth it. I'm getting great results with this one.

Works great with USB3.0 and pulls a full 4K video. Found out that you should really use an 8K cable to get the quality because a 4K cable will jitter sometimes. Using this to put 4K video for podcast with real time streaming so it has to be perfect. Once I started to use an 8K cable all the issue I had went away and it performed correctly. Also it is important that the room temperature is as between 68 to 75. Dropping below 67 or higher than 76 and you will get frame drops and sync issues. Great unit for the price.

This USB capture device is impressive for the price, easily on par with the big-name, high-priced alternatives on the market. The build quality is excellent, though a tad bulkier that I expected. However, it delivers everything you’d expect from a professional-grade product of this caliber. I’ve always believed you don’t always need to buy from the "big guy" to get great results, and this device is a prime example of that.I primarily use it with my HDMI-based digital microscope for when I do streaming of repairing old school video games, and it worked flawlessly from the get-go. No lag, no driver hassle, just plug and play. I also tested it with my Nintendo Switch, and the performance was equally smooth. The video output quality was great in the test streams I did with no artifacting that I could see on the local copy. The versatility is another major win, especially for new folks to the streaming space. Whether you’re streaming, gaming, or using it for online teaching, this little device does it all without breaking a sweat, or breaking the bank. No need for an external power source, and setup was a breeze on my Windows based machine. I do not have a Mac to test this on, but I would assume that as long as your machine meets the requirements, you'll also have no issues. If you're looking for a capture device that offers top-notch performance without the premium price tag of a brand-name competitor for your simple devices like DSLR's, or Nintendo Switch consoles, this is it!

It is impressive how technology as improved over the years. This simple, inexpensive USB device, while a bit chunky in its form factor, is a great device if you need to import HDMI video into your computer. Simply plug it into your system and Windows recognizes it without having to manually install drivers. And it comes with a decent HDMI cable also. This is a nice piece of technology to add to the toolbox of technology.

It ends up taking up more space when plugged in. It effectively takes up 3 USB ports on my docking station since the one below and the one next two it can't be used. A short USB extension cable would be needed for this to work.
